Rovers Duo Could Return This Season

Rovers Duo Could Return This Season

Blackburn Rovers Chairman John Williams is hopeful that injured duo Andre Ooijer and Robbie Savage could return to action this season.

Williams has said that both players are making good progress following surgery on injuries that were believed to be season ending. Dutch International Ooijer sustained a broken fibula and torn angle ligaments against Manchester City in January, whilst former Welsh International Savage broke his leg a few days later against Watford.

Speaking to Sky Sports News Williams said:

"His [Savage's] operation went well, as did Andre Ooijer's who also got a broken leg. They have both got chances [of playing before the end of the season].

"If we can continue in all three competitions we will need every player."

A return for Savage had been spoken of before but a return for Ooijer is very surprising news to me. Hopefully the pair can return and return in time to help us in our quest to win some silverware in the shape of the FA and UEFA Cup's and aid in our quest for a top five of six League finish.

Will their returns; if indeed they do return this season come in time to help us gain some silverware or push on for the European place via the League or would returns just be token gestures as they season ends? Leave your thoughts below...

If they could return this season it would be GREAT news and will give us that little extra, well A LOT extra in the shape of Sav. If we are still attacking the Cup fronts (which I'm sure we will) and possibly even a European finish via the League they will give us that extra impetus to maybe win one or both Cups!

Everyone, except me (and probably HDM), slated Ooijer when he first joined and now we are praying he comes back! Who do you reckon we've missed the most this season... My money is still on Stevie Reid.

Ooijer had the worst debut I've EVER witnessed but I'm pretty sure that I and roversman were always behind him and always felt he would come good; and come good he did. Samba looks like a good partner for the Admiral, but Ooijer could have been that litle something else, would have been a natural to fill in at right back now! Between Reidy, JR and the Admiral earlier in the season Reidy just edged out the other two on who we were missing most, Reidy has probably been our biggest miss all season, his presence and creativeness and goals have been sorely missed.

And when Robbie comes back I can continue my Robbie for Prime Minister campaign which is going down a storm in East Lancashire at the moment.
