Vital Blackburn Trivia!

It's Vital Blackburn trivia time again...

This trivia question comes from BomBom and surrounds Blackburn Rovers and World Cup Winners.

So here is the question:
"Rovers have had how many world cup winners play for them? Who are they and when did their respective country win the trophy with them in the team?"

If the winner wishes to contribute anything to the site, maybe a trivia question of their own, an article or poll maybe this can be arranged? I'll contact them, if they don't contact me first!

Think you know the answer? Put yours below...

Clearly Roy Wegerle isn't one of these, just wanted to use his image! With the question this time coming from BomBom at least he can't add to his three straight correct answers :)

Osvaldo 1978 Argentina, John Connelly 1966 England (Winners) Newton in the 66 England Squad of 28, didn't make final 22. Dino Baggio finalist, however he didn't win??????????????????????????
govtpros
Youri Djorkaeff.... France 1998........ thats 3?
govtpros
Ossie in 78 correct, and Djorkaeff in 98 also correct. These were the two I came up with when BomBom suggest the question, not bragging (much!) but I got it pretty quickly :) I'm not certain, but I was told (sounds stupid to me!) that only playing members got winners medals back in the days of '66? If true this would rule Connelly out wouldn't it, if not then it is in fact three as you say and not two.
Hughes Da Man
hey hughesy, 3 ex-world cup winners sounds better than 2....lol
govtpros
you gotta feel for Connelly and Newton, so so close!!!! 'It's a worthers original moment for those boys'
govtpros
4 ex World Cup winners sounds even better! I think it was a case of players having to play some many games or being part of the Final XI so they did miss out, sadly remains at 2 I think... unless their are others?!?!

Florent Sinama-Pongolle U-17 World Cup winner France 2001

Give us a clue is this just Senior Mens World Cup?
govtpros
Under-17 is pushing it too far isn't it. As far as I know and can make out the two you got (and I got!) are the only two, sorry meant to publish an article saying so!!!

There are obscure football questions and there are Blackburn Rovers questions!
