Boss Hopeful On Setbacks

Boss Hopeful On Setbacks

The loss of Peter Whittingham and Corry Evans to injuries in the win against Peterborough was an obvious disappointment.

However, Tony Mowbray is confident both will return to action for Blackburn sooner rather than later.

Whittingham, forced off in the first half due to a sore calf, was replaced by Evans, but the Northern Ireland international himself failed to play in the second half after sustaining a gash to his knee.

Before we move onto his comment these are the highlights of the game itself, of course edged by Rovers 3-2 at London Road.

Mowbray told the Official Website: 'Peter's calf is sore. He pulled it when running with an opponent. Corry has a horrific gash on his knee. He's had six or seven stitches in there to sort it out.'

Philosophically, Mowbray, who knows injuries are always going to happen, is positive we'll not see too much of an absence from the midfielders - he did confirm both will almost certainly miss the FA Cup replay at Crewe on Tuesday though.

Adding: 'I'm hoping they won't be out too long and they're back quickly. Injuries are part and parcel of the game, unfortunately.'
