'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Player Profile: Eddie Nolan

Full Name: Eddie Nolan
Date of Birth: 5th August 1988, Waterford
Nationality: Irish
Position: Defender
Squad Number: 32
Internationals: Capped at all levels up to under-19 for Republic of Ireland

Eddie Nolan is yet another of the clubs highly promising youngsters to come through he Blackburn Rovers academy programme; a programme that produces so many talented youngsters.

The cultured central defenders impact at academy level has been such that the Irish star has already made himself a regular in the reserves and will now be looking to make his first-team breakthrough in the near future.

Nolan is a regular for the Republic of Ireland at under-19 level for having already represented them at all levels from youth level upwards. Should he continue his progress the set up to under-21 will come sooner rather than later and then who knows when his first senior call will come…

His performances at academy and youth level's have been such that Mark Hughes awarded Nolan with a squad number of 32 for the 2006-2007 season despite only being 17-years-old at the time.

Nolan made his Rovers debut as a substitute for injured Andy Todd in the UEFA Cup tie with Nancy in December 2006.

Blackburn Rovers appearances and goals up to the start of the 2006-2007 Season:
League: 0
FA Cup: 0
League Cup: 0
Other (European etc.): 0
TOTAL: 0 - 0 goals

Nolan was yet to make a Rovers appearance up to the start of the 2006-2007 season.

Nolan had a decent enough debut against Nancy; still very young so one very much for the future. Hopefully his potential can be realised…and realised at Ewood Park!

Hopefully he is not another one that we lose at a young age, another great development of our youth system. Thanks for the details about ordering the jersey, i just recieved it in the post and am wearing it to training tonight woohoo

Fingers crossed for the kid, one of a handful that I really have high hopes for...just hope they reach the potential and are given the chance. Ideal, no worries sasman glad I could help and glad you've got it OK. It will help spread the Rovers word (and the word of this site!!!) to our friends in sunny Australia!

sasman
I'm not so envious now that I hear its hailing!

He looks the business to be fair. Lets hope he can progress at the right pace. He has the pace but needs bulking a bit IMO.
