Chapman Going Through A Learning Process

Chapman Going Through A Learning Process

On-loan Middlesbrough forward Harry Chapman has found his Blackburn chances, as a starter, limited since his arrival in August.

Chapman has made nine appearances from the bench and this has seen him impress Tony Mowbray. However, he still feels the talented teen has a lot to learn and understand about the tactical side of the game.

He told the Official Website: 'Harry Chapman is a fantastic young guy, he's 19 years old and learning about football all the time. He's fast, he's got quick feet and knows how to beat people, but he's finding some of the tactical things hard to understand. When the game loosens up with half an hour to go and he comes on, he looks like Rivelino, he's so fast and direct.'

If Mowbray was to use Chapman, 19, from the off at this point in time he feels it could leave Blackburn more exposed at the back with him better suited, and more effective for Rovers, for a role from the bench at the moment.

'He's going through a learning process and I feel the team could be more vulnerable if Harry starts a match and he's not helping his full-back cut off the passing lines. Ultimately, all I want, and I'm sure the fans do to, is for the team to win. At the moment, Harry is best coming off the bench to damage the opposition,' said Mowbray.

Chapman's most impressive performance came off the bench against MK Dons where his 'speed, technique and talent' helped create a couple of goals, when Blackburn had been 'a bit edgy', to see out the win.

With plenty of games coming up in the weeks ahead, especially at Christmas, Mowbray will soon call upon him as a starter when he hopes he can 'do damage at the start' - at this point though Rovers are 'having to grind out results,' which doesn't suit his game.
