An Unacceptable Performance - Mowbray

An Unacceptable Performance - Mowbray

Blackburn grabbed a point at Shrewsbury on Saturday when Bradley Dack equalised five minutes from time.

Obviously Tony Mowbray was pleased to gain a point but admitted he wasn't happy with the Rovers performance as he expects a lot more from his team.

Dominic Samuel headed wide before Toto Nsiala headed against the crossbar for Shrewsbury - the same player did open the scoring ahead of the hour though after David Raya failed to deal with a ball into the box.

Raya kept out Stefan Payne and left Blackburn in with a chance of getting a point, which was claimed when Harry Chapman set up Dack to earn a 1-1 draw with the unbeaten Shrews.

Mowbray not only thought it was an 'unacceptable performance' it was in fact the 'poorest performance' so far but he'll take the point as one gained.

'I think it was probably our poorest performance of the season. I told them afterwards that it was an unacceptable performance from where I sat and watched it. They didn't carry out what we had worked on, and that allowed Shrewsbury to play their own game for long spells and we suffered for it,' he told the Official Website.

Adding: 'We have to accept that we take a point from the game and move on, but we have to be a lot better than that. I think it is two points dropped, but on the balance of play it is a point gained.'

Now Rovers take this point and move onto Rotherham on Tuesday when they, fresh from a thrashing of Oldham, come to Ewood Park.

The boss said: 'I expect Blackburn Rovers to be a lot better than Shrewsbury Town and we didn't show that today. In fact we struggled for long spells in the game. The next game will have it's own identity, against a different team we'll play a different way, and we'll see how we get on in that one.'
