Austria Important For Team Bonding

Austria Important For Team Bonding

Yes, Blackburn's training camp in Austria will play a crucial part for fitness ahead of the League One season but Tony Mowbray is aware of the importance of this for Rovers team bonding too.

Blackburn have today set off for a weeklong stay in Austria. This follows up the opening 10 days of pre-season training at Brockhall and the weekend friendly win at Barrow.

During the spell in the Austrian mountains Rovers will face Czech side Sparta Prague at the SAK Stadium Nonntal, Salzburg on Friday.

Explaining the training camp, Mowbray told the Official Website: 'It's an important part of the season. We've got some new signings and they have to get to know the rest of the group. Being together 24 hours a day, it helps them bond. I'm sure the weather will be nice, the training will be intense, we finish it with a game and then pre-season will just continue.'

The summer arrivals have already got to know their new teammates a little, all have travelled along with trialist Paul Caddis as he bids to win a contract at Blackburn.

But the boss know this 24-7 spell together away from their normal home lives will be very important to the team bonding and togetherness ahead of the season to come.

Mowbray said: 'The reason you go away is to bond the players. They don't go home in the early afternoon after training, they stay together, have evening meals, they sit around tables and talk about football and life, and they bond. So I think pre-season is an important time and taking them away, out of the country, away from the training ground is important as well.'
