Four Year Bournemouth Deal For Mahoney

Four Year Bournemouth Deal For Mahoney

Connor Mahoney has signed a four year contract at Premier League club Bournemouth having allowed his Blackburn deal to expire.

Mahoney, 20, had been offered a new and improved contract to remain at Ewood Park but Blackburn's relegation from the Championship made up his mind - he didn't want to play in League One.

Championship interest had been expressed in Mahoney, expected to join Nottingham Forest, but he's opted for the topflight and has joined Bournemouth. However, he'll not be getting the first team football at Dean Court he would have at Blackburn as the winger will initially be part of their U23 squad.

Having come through the ranks at Blackburn, initially a youth player at Accrington, making his first team debut for Stanley at 16, Mahoney made 21 appearances for Rovers and had looked as if he would become a key part of Tony Mowbray's first team plans.

Bournemouth and Blackburn do have to agree a compensation fee for the former England U17 and U18 international. A tribunal will be needed to settle the case if an agreement can't be reached.
