Which Former Rover Would Come In?

With the current injury problems being encountered by Blackburn Rovers who would you draft in from the Rovers past to fill the void.

BomBom has suggested a poll to me on which former Rovers players he would potentially like us to turn to in our hour of need under this title:

If we could pick one player (Alan Shearer and Colin Hendry excepted) to plug into Rovers first XI now from years gone by, who would you choose?

He mentioned five names, well actually more than five initially but this had to be reduced to five plus "other" to conform to poll restrictions. This poll will almost certainly still be run but we both felt that perhaps this would make for a good article before and get us all debating on the merits of people from Rovers past we would like to turn to at this point in time to help us out if we could!

Alan Shearer and Colin Hendry are almost certain gimmies so these aside which former Rovers would you like to be able to turn to in our hour of need?

List your names below with reasons as to why...

Maybe a strange name in some people's eyes but I'd say Mark Atkins! A no frills footballer, not the most gifted footballer in the world but he got stuck in, wasn't afraid to make a challenge or go in where it hurt, remind you of anyone!

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! why was everyone so enamoured with Arrow? He was great at standing in the middle of the park and pointing, soo overrated by so many people in my opinion! Seeing as i had to remove them, I'll suggest them again here. Graeme Le Saux and Mike England, although there is a case to be made, considering the injuries at the moment for Paul Warhurst, David Batty and Garry Flitcroft. Also, What about Rippers? Steve Archibald?
BomBom
I always thought that Atkins was underrated myself! Warhurst would have a fine case as he could literally fill in ANYWHERE. Flitcroft could also add leadership qualitites couldn't he.

if it was till the end of the season Sherwood for the middle, on his day he was a fine player
Clint
Sherwood was an influencial captain and was very good on his day. Surely deserved more than the 2 (think it was just 2) England caps he got, and these came with Spuds! He talks a very good game now, surprised he hasn't moved into coaching.

Sherwood is a goodie. I would taken Henning Berg at the back and Mike Newell up front. Obvioulsy I hope Mr>newell fails miserably tomorrow but thats a story for another day.

Wanted to work "Newell's Old Boys" into an articles title somewhere but couldn't manage it... yet! So I'll put it as a comment here for now! Berg and Mr Angry, another couple of good options. Imagine a partnership of Berg and the Admiral!
