Blackburn Defender Moves On

Blackburn Rovers has finally allowed a defender to leave Ewood Parků This defender isn't Lucas Neill however it is Dominic Matteo.

As the long winded Neill debacle continues to rumble on with the player for the time being at least still a Rovers player former Scottish International Matteo, 32, has finally seen his Rovers days come to an end as he joined Stoke City today on a free transfer.

In a recent poll Matteo was the man most wanted to see leave Ewood; this has now happened with the former Rovers captain signing a deal with Stoke until the end of the season with him set to go straight into their squad, if not team tomorrow.

Although not a favourite by any means and a player well past his best I will still (as I hope everyone else will?) wish Dom all the best for the future.

I'm not sad to see Dom leave as he's well passed his prime but as I say I wish him the best. He was a very high earner now that his wages are freed up they can hopefully be used to a better use.

Im not sad to see him go either no offense but will most Rovers fans even notice? The best part is the freeing up of his wages to go too other players who will play in the team
Clint
You are right on both Clint!

he had his moments in the 1st team, but in my opinion, has been past it for a long time. Best of luck to him at Stoke but I'd guess he'll be done in around 12-24 months!

I wish him well with Stoke and hope he can earn a deal beyond this season. He won't have much time left in him though, this could be a make or break move?
