Rovers Close In On a Dunn Deal

The return of David Dunn to Blackburn Rovers in moving ever closer after Bolton Wanderers admitted defeat in their efforts to sign him from Birmingham City.

Dunn had seemed destined for nowhere else but Ewood Park for the vast majority of the time since the final moments of the summer transfer window then in the past few days this all seemed to have gone horribly wrong with Bolton almost nailed on to sign Dunny... However a late Rovers bid has been accepted and his re-signing is almost as certain as night following day this time.

"David will not be joining us. It is disappointing, but when Blackburn came in for him he wanted to return to them," Allardyce told the official Bolton website when confirming Dunn would not be going to the Reebok Stadium as seemed VERY likely some 24 hours ago.

Big Sam added:

"I still maintain we would have given him the best environment to resurrect his career, but if he doesn't want to come here there's nothing I can do.

"He is a Blackburn lad and he wants to go back there and play for his hometown team again."

The deal should be wrapped up shortly then only time will tell if his return is a good thing. Obviously we all know what Dunny can do but the injuries remain a concern.

Obviously I love the guy; Dunny is a legend. I REALLY hope that he can stay injury free as if he can we know what he can do but I have to admit I am worried that he might not be able to?

He has got to keep himself fit. Obviously you can never help getting injured, but I personally think it is a gamble worth taking. Welcome home Dunny!
