A Dunn Deal, But Where?

Could it be the longing running saga surrounding the prodigal son is about to be finalised? Well perhaps not.

A lot of talk had surfaced before Christmas linking the one time fans favourite and England international with a return to Ewood Park, made all the more likely after Steve Bruce claimed he would be prepared to let the 5.5 million signing leave.

Many expected the transfer to be formalised when the transfer window opened after words emanating from Mark Hughes himself suggested a move was forthcoming.

Yet we find ourselves two weeks into the window and Dunn is still in the West Midlands. Fresh rumours last week indicated that Bolton were interested and would be making an offer. Over the weekend, after a Bolton bid believed to be in the region of 1 million was accepted, it looked as though Dunn would indeed be returning to Lancashire, but with the wrong club.

However, a fresh twist has emerged. After Dunn completed a rigorous medical at The Reebok Stadium, Rovers have once again been credited with strong interest. The Lancashire Evening Telegraph has reported that Rovers have been in negotiations with Birmingham in order to reach a compromise over the fee.

The delay derives from Rovers` reluctance to pay the majority of the figure up front and instead they are proposing a number of additional bonuses.

This isn`t to the liking of the Birmingham chiefs who are eager to recuperate as much up front as possible. That coupled with the clubs well publicised dislike of Blackburn Rovers may be the stumbling block.

A bid of 1 million by Bolton has been accepted, I just wonder if they are asking more from Rovers.

Either way it would appear David Dunn will be moving back to Lancashire very soon, but to which club?

Well it would show whether either Dunn is in fact a Blackburn fan, whether Blackburn are interseted in him - has his fittness troubles put the club off putting in a bid? or indeed are Bolton simply offering a better deal
Clint
I do think Hughes is more interesetd in Koumas. Similar type of player to Dunn but has better fitness record, although had a time of trying to leave W.B.A. for Cardiff a while back so maybe this could be a problem?
Clint
I do hope that Hughes can get Dunn, if he can prove his fitness 1 million is a bona fide bargain.

I will be gutted if we miss out on him, he is a class act. He does have a bad injury record but Hughesy cannot let him slip through our fingers. At £1M he is a risk worth taking. Koumas would cost three times what Dunn would, remember as good as Koumas is - he has never cutted it in the Prem.
Wellsy
looks like Dunn is going to go to Bolton, Wot a waste of talent!!! either that or Hughes used Bolton to test the fittness of the lad. ithink that if Blackburn agree a deal then he would choose Rovers
Clint
Well guys I'm back after a little jolly away for a few days... although I'm less fresh than I was before I went! Anyways Koumas would (all being well) stay fit. I think he could be picked up for £2 million? I'd love Dunny back (even more so with Reidy out now!) but if deals can be reached with both if Bolton are the chosen team this would put into question Dunny's motives for a move (he would obviously get more at Bolton if he picked them over Rovers?) We say Koumas is untired at this level this is only because of Bryan Robson, if he can succeed at International level I'm sure he can at Premiership level. Sparky knows pretty much all their is to know about him. A semi-fit, injury prone Dunny (even taking into account knowing what he can do) at £1 million verses a fully fit, goalscoring, regular International (even taking into account he's had little Premiership football) Koumas at around £2 million? Sorry guys but I'd go for Koumas.

Dunn it turns out is priced at 2.2m ( depending on appearances ) this is too much I think for him and this may be why Hughes didi not put in a bid b4 Bolton. It'll be sad if the team misses out on a local talented supporter who would obvioulsy love to play for Rovers but maybe this sentiment does not relate to the real world where he has made something like 27 ( may be wrong there ) starts since he left Rovers due to injury. Koumas would be a great player to have in squad and one that I think would have worth. of course there are plenty of players out there so lets see wot happens, maybe Beckham on loan till his big move to LA
Clint
Again im proved wrong with Birmingham agreeing a fee with Rovers!! I'd expect to see Dunn back soon
Clint
I'm with you Clint I think a £2.2 million deal (must have equalled if not bettered Bolton, unless we've matched a price but are offering less wages wise; but his history has swayed it in our favour?) is too much for Dunny no matter what we think of him. Koumas could be picked up for something similar I'm sure?

Dont get me wrong Dunn is a great footballer and would be an asset to any team but im wondering if its an attempt to bring more fans to Ewood? Williams has been quoted in this in an interview, so is it a deal for a footballer or to increase the crowds!! I hope its for the footballer cos he's a damn fine player if he stays fit that is
Clint
Birmingham Bid accepted...............
