Reid Knock Sums Up Poor Weekend

Following four consecutive victories, making it six wins in seven, and the spine of the team, Ryan Nelsen, Steven Reid and Jason Roberts, nearing full fitness, everything at Ewood Park was looking rosy.

How drastically that picture has been distorted since Saturday. A disappointing performance at home against Arsenal meant the club lost three points, and didn`t exactly shower themselves in glory and that has now been accompanied by the news that Steven Reid has suffered a set-back.

Now I am not prophesising doom on the basis of a single result and a bit of bad news but it just goes to show how rapidly the game can change and ultimately affect the outlook of a side.

It has been reported today that Steven Reid broke down in training on Friday with a suspected knee injury. The extent of the injury isn`t yet clear but everyone at Ewood is hopeful it will be nothing more than a slight strain, brought on by his return to full training.

Mark Hughes has been quoted as saying: "Steven injured his knee in training. We are seeing the medical people and he will have a scan and, hopefully, we will get some good news."

Further news is likely to be released later in the week following scans and medical examinations. Let`s hope that it will be good news greeting Hughes.

I seriously hope that it doesn't turn out to be anything serious. Perhaps just a one week setback!

this a big blow to the club and to the player himself. He is a big miss in the team and I wish him all the best for next season

This is really bad news. Hughes will now have to go out and buy two new midfielders. It also throws a huge spanner into the works for his plans for the second half of the season. I wish the bloke all the bestr and hopefully he can come back bigger, stronger and better next term! All the best Reidy

Well guys I'm back after a little jolly away for a few days... altohugh I'm less fresh than I was before I went! Couldn't believe when I heard he'd broken down in training; but as soon as I had I thought knee ligament damage or something so we'll be lucky to see him until sometime into next season. MASSIVE blow, the Amiral and JR have been missed and will benefit us massively when they return having Reidy out for the rest of the season is a killer. Good luck Rediy, get well soon you'll be missed BIG TIME... AGAIN!
