Benni And ALL Top Rovers Staying!

Benni And ALL Top Rovers Staying!

Reports linking Blackburn Rovers star striker Benni McCarthy with other Premiership sides including Chelsea are beginning to anger Mark Hughes.

As is inevitable with Benni being in such fine form (which lets face it we knew he would be with the quality he has and the goalscoring record he brought with him!) other teams are being mentioned in the same breath as Benedict McCarthy.

Hughes is more than keen to retain the services of Benni, with the player equally as happy to stay at Ewood Park and show them the loyalty that maybe others wouldn't or even haven't in the past. Hughes said:

"Whenever I have good players and they have good seasons, people assume they want to leave and I take exception to that."

Clearly the fact that players are constantly being linked with moves away from Ewood is beginning to grind Sparky's gears and so it should. We are a team moving forward (again); sure maybe we won't win the Premiership again for a long, long time if in fact we do again (in my lifetime anyway?) but we are going somewhere and Sparky has us playing some fantastic football for which we are quite rightly starting to gain recognition so why should players want to leave...

Benni has no desire to leave we have no desire for him to leave why can't people leave well enough alone!!! There are only 3, arguably 4 clubs that I would understand players leaving for others thinking they are above us is beginning to become tiresome. We are a very good footballing side now and more than a match for these other 15-16 Premiership sides and ANYONE on our day with A LOT of very good players!

I just think the papers are making things up because the transfer window is so quiet at the moment - they need something to write about. McCarthy and Bentley are two of the Premierships form players so they are "targets" for the tabloids. McCarthy is not a 'bench' type of person - that is one of the reasons he was desperately trying to leave Porto. Bentley has said he wants to stay - so the tabloids should move on to other people.

the papers do need to sell players to sell papers and its obvious as mentioned above that form players are constantly linked with the 'TOP' teams (so to speak) Bentley would never move into the situation he left @ Arsenal and Benni turned Chelsea in the last couple of years so why move now?? Blackburn are one of the top teams outside the supposed top 4 and play really entertaining football along with the ability to mix it up if and when needed. We are a match for any club in the league on our day and this should be more reconised in the press!! We got the players to move to the club in the 1st place and this is by no way some fluke!

There would be no point in any of our players leaving for anybody but the top 4. But it isn't just the standard of football that appeals to players these days is it. Location plays a huge part in a players plans as does money on most occasions. Its alright playing good football but key areas such as these play a major part. Clint, you make a good point on the market being quiet and certain players being targeted as wanting a move. Fingers crossed it is all speculation. We need to hold on to the stars we have, especially McCarthy and Bentley.

It is about time that we started making approaches for other, supposedly top clubs' players. Hopefully we can have an excellent second half of the season like last year and perhaps even win a trophy and shut up all of these 'big clubs' (Spurs and Newcastle in particular). Then we can keep our best players and build around them.

We WILL win something of this I am sure. Would dearly love to win a Cup double but think the UEFA Cup will be coming to Ewood Park for sure!

Roversman has a point, Blackburn's players are constantly linked with the other clubs in the Premier League but not the other way around!! And as for Neill being linked with West Ham, thats a joke!!

I cant see Neill leaving for West Ham , he has spent about six months saying he wants to move to one of Europes top clubs. He would be making a lateral movment. Unless of course he has been lying.

Furthermore... If Benni doesnt want to go and the papers are constantly saying otherwise... arent they sounding a bit stupid?!?!

Don't they (the paper) always though Mikey! It depends how much influence Peter Harrison is having; if it comes down to money he'll go where the biggest pay cheque will be picked up.
