UEFA Cup: FREE Admission for Rovers!

I swear that Mark Hughes and/or some other Blackburn Rovers official reads this website as suggestions we keep making keep happening!

Among other things in recent times we've called for Matt Derbyshire to get a chance and he did, most recently following Hughes baking the reduced prices Rovers are constantly offering their fans I called for the club not to forget the season ticket holders as they pay a set price don't they without reductions so I hoped that they would be given fair deals similar to the two UEFA Cup games for £30 earlier in the season.

The calls have been answered as season ticket holders will gain FREE entry into the home leg (second leg) of the last 32 UEFA Cup clash with Bayer Leverkusen on Thursday 22nd February, the only draw back is the game will kick off a 6pm to allow for live coverage on German television!

Adult Non-season Ticket Holders also pay just £15, with Senior Citizens and Club 16-21 Members £5 and Juniors a mere £1, so just a small fraction of their weekly pocket money!

Managing director Tom Finn said:

"Due to the success of so many British teams in the UEFA Cup so far this season, the competition for television revenue has been particularly strong. German television, one of the biggest markets in Europe, wants to show our tie and the clash between Ajax and Werder Bremen back-to-back on the night. The only opportunity we had to acquire live TV coverage in Germany was, therefore, to agree to the early kick off time.

"In order to ensure the maximum backing for the team we have again decided to allow our season ticket holders free entry to the match, It is further recognition of their importance to the club and emphasises the value of being a season ticket holder at Ewood Park.

"Early kick-offs are not uncommon in the UEFA Cup. Our match in Krakow kicked off at 3.45pm whilst the first leg in Leverkusen is a 5.15pm kick-off, UK time. It is just more unusual in England. However, one of the clear advantages of the 6pm time is the great opportunity it presents to young children to attend a European evening game at Ewood Park - and for just £1."

Hopefully the youngsters that do come will be hooked and will come back again and again; as for us oldies making an earlier kick off with work commitments etc. may be a little harder… I can feel a virus coming on!
