Cup Winners No Longer in League...

Cup Winners No Longer in League...

My love for facts, stats and trivia lead me to try something different here on Vital Blackburn. On this occasion govtpros gave you a Trivia question to try and answer.

The question asked:
"Six Clubs have led successful campaigns in the FA Cup but are not now in the Football league. Name them"

The (SEVEN!!! Not SIX!!!!) clubs to have won the FA Cup in years gone by but to no longer be in the Football League are of course:

Blackburn Olympic: 1883
Clapham Rovers: 1880
Old Carthusians: 1881
Old Etonians: 1882 & 1879
Oxford University: 1874
Royal Engineers: 1875
Wanderers: 1872, 1873, 1876, 1877 & 1878

Congratulations to vital member MikeyGamst who was the first to correctly get this... even if we made his life harder by missing an option out!

Do you have any trivia questions you would like to put to everyone? If so contact me via the e-mail link or place your questions below and I'll get Vital Football Members pondering over your teaser…

email received, good trivia Mikey! On the subject of FA Cup what do we make of our potential draw? We have to fancy beating QPR (remember Sergio Peter verses them a few years back!) or Luton. Would be nice to go to Luton to face Rovers old boy Mike Newell though wouldn't it!

Face him and beat him. Imagine if there was a female referee assistant and a controversial call involving her won it for us! Newelly would be in his element!

lol.... I personnally don't want Luton! Remember what they did to Liverpool last year.... however I think the story books are again already out to print!

I have to agrre with govtpros in as far as they will pose a much greater obstacle than QPR (without trying to sound too disrespectful to QPR fans). However, from a sentimental view point a chance for Spikey Mikey Newell to test his managerial talents against one of his fav clubs would be interesting.

I genuinely think we'll beat both anyway so it doesn't matter (this also is meant with no disrespect to QPR or Luton) but for sentimentality sake Newell's New Boys would be good.
