Hughes Hails Victorious Blackburn

Blackburn Rovers boss Mark Hughes has praised his side following our tremendous 4-1 third round victory over Premiership rivals Everton.

The toffees, currently sitting a couple of places ahead of us were ruthlessly brushed aside with a degree of good fortune by a young Rovers side. I would not be at all surprised if we also see the two sides passing in the Premiership in the coming weeks and months also we are on a role.

"We were excellent today," said Hughes.

"It was a perfect day from our point of view, fantastic day really.

"I gave an opportunity to a number of players. People might have thought we were taking the game lightly, but to score as many goals as we did the players deserve a lot of credit.

"We thought early on we'd pepper the Everton goal and we got a goal and it settled us down.

"We had to withstand a bit of pressure, but on occasions broke very well. All in all a very professional performance.

"I'm pleased we've been able to come through this and progress to the fourth round."

The draw for round four takes place at lunchtime today.

Meanwhile Sparky is due to hand out another of his favourite things… a trial to a potential signing.

Skysports (amoung others now) are reporting Feyenoord forward Ali Boussaboun will spend time this week with Rovers. The Moroccan-born 27-year-old is currently contracted to Feyenoord but despite having two-and-a-half years left on his deal with the Dutch club he's been told he can leave.

Sparky almost always says "we were excellent", we certainly were on Sunday. Roll on round four! I know absolutely nothing Ali Boussaboun at all, but I guess offering him a trial can't hurt… can it?

The team played very well at the weekend and deserved the win. The man Ali may not be the answer to Blackburn's prayers as he's not 1st choice in an average team and he's a striker, we have loads of strikers!!! Wot we need is midfielders and cover at left and rite back - although once we get our injured players back Reid can do most of those positions by himself!

Sparky unearth's some interesting players maybe Ali will be one? But I'm with you Clint we don't need him, don't need him at all!
