Greatest Ever Squad: Right-backs

If you had the money of a Roman Abramovich and even a time machine I'm sure you would love to put together a Blackburn Rovers Greatest Ever Squad... This is your chance as we continue compiling this squad with the right-backs!

We all have our favourite players and know of the legendary ones even if we haven't seen them so now is our chance to get these brought together as you the Vital Blackburn Rovers fans get a chance to compile what you consider the Greatest Ever Blackburn Rovers Squad.

This squad will comprise of the following, with the goalkeepers, left-backs and central defenders already selected:

3 Goalkeepers (Tim Flowers, Brad Friedel & Bobby Mimms)

2 Left-backs (or Wing-backs) (Stig Inge Bjornebye & Graeme Le Saux)
4 Centre-backs (Henning Berg, Mike England, Colin Hendry & Ryan Nelsen)
2 Right-backs (or Wing-backs)

2 Left-midfielders (or Wingers)
4 Central Midfielders
2 Right-midfielders (or Wingers)

4 Forwards

To put together this squad we need to think of names so below leave your suggestion for the RIGHT-BACK or RIGHT-BACKS you would like to be considered for selection. Remember right wing-backs are also viable options.

Once we have enough names (at least three, ideally six) we will put it to the vote and the top two will make it into the Greatest Ever Rovers Squad.

Should you suggest more than six right-backs I will either have to consider those most frequently suggested or somehow get you to decide on the final six people voted on? JUST BECAUSE SOMEONE ELSE MENTIONS A PLAYER DON'T THINK YOU CAN'T AS YOU CAN the more mentions a player gets the better his chance of at least making the poll!

This is your chance so post your right full-back or right full-backs names below. Why not also post a word or two on why you have selected them...

Put your names below; remember the more mentions people get (from different users) the more likely they will make the poll to see who gets in. As usual I'll leave it for you guys first before I enter into the name suggesting.

If Emerton had been given the chance to play his natural right wing back position he definitly would be remembered as one of the greats. Then again, he has had a great season for us, and whilst one season doesnt make a person, he should be counted for this position. Lucas Neill has been a loyal servant also, through his name into the

Bob Crompton, a Rover pioneer, HAS to be in. I'd like to give him a free bye into the squad but have to play fair. You'll not be off to support B... that other team! People SHOULDN'T need to google him... surely!

Davie Whelan so curely robbed of a football career, another good name. What wonders he's worked at Wigan! Chris Price a player I'll never forget, he had been around the block a few times before he arrived hadn't he, went around it a few times after he left! Wasn't Newton more of a left-back though?

Emerton could very well have been an option had he played right-back for longer... but this would have ruled Lucas Neill out?!?! As it is Neill has done more than enough to earn a fair few mentions as a right-back, one of our greatest ever? That remains to be seen. WHATEVER happens shouldn't alter our opinion of Neill the Rovers footballer.

What about Fergie Suter; or again was he more of a left-back?

Neill should be remembered as one of the best. If you were to ask me to name THE very best I would say Bob Crompton. Played with the right attitude all the time nad was proud to be at the club.

Newton I believe from older relatives he was originally a wing-half, he was converted to a full-back, and became one of England's finest defenders. He played at either right or left-back.

Neill "should" be remembered as one of the best no matter what; hopefully he will?

Very true, Mr Blackburn Rovers indeed. I know that Newton SHOULD have made it in to the squad as a left-back so if he could also play right-back maybe he still has a chance?!?!

Crompton, Whelan and Newton are all classic choices and I would add a more contemporary vote in the shape of Lucas Neill. Kenna was quality for a while as well.

Kenna a true professional who rarely let down an side he played for. Under rated in my opinion.

Kenna has to get a mention. Where did David May figure in the Blackburn team. I always remember him in the right back position.

May deserves a mention also, my how his career went down hill after Rovers!
