Hughes: Keep the Blackburn Run Going

Blackburn Rovers manager Mark Hughes is eager for our upturn in fortunes to continue and make it four wins on the spin when we face Everton in the FA Cup on Sunday.

"It is a difficult tie for us, I have to say, Everton are always a strong formidable side at Goodison, always a difficult side to break down," said Hughes when speaking on the challenge that lies ahead of us in round three.

Having won our last three Premiership matches and five out of our last six matches in all competitions Hughes is looking for the run to continue against a difficult opponent in Everton. Sparky also said:

"We've had a very good Christmas period once again, similar to last year and we are hoping obviously to keep it going now.

"We've had some difficult games over the Christmas period and we have another one ahead of us but we are playing well and have good confidence from results and the performances that we have had of late so it is a good time from our point of view to be facing a very good Everton side.

"Confidence through winning is always important, we are on a decent run at the moment, five wins out of six games, so we'd like to keep that going."

In seven Cup matches this season we have had four victories; all in the UEFA Cup, with only one defeat, this coming against Chelsea in the Carling Cup, the other two being UEFA Cup draws so we are in good Cup form this season. So despite being away and despite not having that great an FA Cup record against Everton we do have a good third round record over the past decade so we have to fancy our chances…

I'd rather a draw and a replay than defeat but I think it is important for us to avoid a replay as we have enough games coming up without any extra ones! 2-1 Rovers.
