Gamst Getting Back to His Best

After several impressive performances over the festive period Blackburn Rovers midfielder Morten Gamst Pedersen feels he is getting back to his very best.

Speaking after the 3-0 victory over Wigan Athletic Gamst said:

"It couldn't be better, we had a good start to the New Year last year too so it is a great feeling.

"I think I've been doing well, my form is getting better and the whole team has been doing better so it is easy to play good.

"We have had a lot of things against us this season and now we are starting to get things with us and are playing better football.

"It is fun to be a Blackburn footballer at the moment."

I might have been critical of Gamst in the past, and maybe my thoughts that given the chance he would move on without much thought were wrong as these are not the words of a man looking for a move are they?

I was one of those very much in favour of Mark Hughes dropping the Norwegian International with Sergio Peter coming in in his place; but once again we have to bow to Sparky's superior knowledge as he doesn't often steer us wrong and so it has proved again here with Gamst beginning to come very close to his best form again. It seems like his goal against Newcastle United last month triggered something off…

Meanwhile another man very much in form Benni McCarthy has his sights on a top six finish. With the help of the goal machine we are moving towards this. He said in today's Sun newspaper:

"We are playing good football and we can definitely fight for a top five or six spot.

"Now we're starting to show our true potential. Hopefully, we'll quickly work our way up from mid-table."

When Rovers play well Gamst plays well; not so good when the going gets tough but he was carrying an injury which maybe was hindering him more than we thought?!?! If Benni keeps scoring then a top six place in very much within reach even if it looked unlikely a while back!

Gamst has been playing better as he is playing with more aggression now. In the second half against Liverpool he looked a different player from the first. I hope he keeps it up as he was excellent against Wigan and Boro.

I have to hold my hands up too HDM, I was in the "bring on Sergio" brigade too! Lucky for us thta Sparky is a bit more level headed!

We all know what he can do with a bit more fight in his game also he will only get better. For us to keep him we have to keep performing in or around the top six. Why would he want to leave if we do that?
Hughes Da Man
I'm not affraid to admit I was wrong! You said it yourself earlier mate "in Hughes we trust."
Hughes Da Man
too right HDM... he hasn't gone wrong yet.

Who's da Man... Sparky's da man!

Well I knew Gamst would come good but that didn't stop me from suggesting he spend some time on the bench. Im a big fan of Gamst as some of you may be aware, and it has been excellent watching him recently. He is playing with aggresion, flair and direction. The goals will start flying in soon and then we can really look upwards again!

Trust me people if you didn't know before roversman is a HUGE MGP fan believe me! It is good to see him coming good again; and adding things to his game.
Hughes Da Man
Thats the thing I have been most impressed with- his aggresive physical approach to the game that has surfaced in recent weeks. Lets hope it continues and the goals fly in too.
