Games That Could Shape Rovers Season

Blackburn Rovers embark on two games; starting today against Middlesbrough that could "shape our season", according to Mark Hughes.

After the moral boosting and confidence inspiring win over Liverpool at Ewood Park on Saturday we once again face a home challenge today from Middlesbrough as we look to complete the double over them, we then follow this up with a trip to the JJB to face Wigan Athletic on New Years Day, also looking to complete another double. Hughes wants us to build on the Liverpool victory and keep winning, he said:

"They are matches against teams that are either side of us. I've always emphasised the importance of back-to-back wins.

"We've got a home game against a side that we have already beaten this year so it is a good opportunity for us.

"If we can get the three points against Middlesbrough then we would certainly go into the Wigan game in great heart."

Victory today would make it four out of five in all competitions and would set us up nicely for Wigan on Monday followed by the FA Cup third round tie with Everton a week on Sunday.

If we can win our next two games we will be right back amoung the chasing pack. That's the beauty of this League as it is so evenly matched (the top four, or two this season aside!) With a game in hand also against a team in the shape of Watford that we'll be looking to gain maximum points from we will be right back up there with players returning from injury to boot! Happy Days?!?!
