Hughes: Friedel Up with the Best!

Following yet more heroics from Blackburn Rovers goalkeeper Brad Friedel against Liverpool on Boxing Day Mark Hughes has heaped praise on the American; ranking him up with the best.

Having been beaten six times (none down to Friedel I must add!) in the 6-2 thrashing from Arsenal just before Christmas the team and Friedel in particular responded fantastically during the 1-0 win over Liverpool. The former Liverpool goalkeeper put in an inspired display as he once again showed his former employers how wrong they were to write him off and discard him as they did.

Hughes has since rightfully praised Friedel, rating him alongside the very best he was fortunate to play with himself during his playing days, including the legendary Peter Schmeichel! The don't get much better than the Great Dane do they? Sparky said:

"I don't think Brad has ever conceded six in his career so professional pride comes into it and it was a situation were we all needed to address that.

"But you know to expect that from Brad.

"He's very much at the top end of all the keepers I was fortunate to play with including Peter Schmeichel. He is among that quality of keepers."

An absolute legend, long may the reign of Bradley Friedel in the Rovers net continue. It will be a sad day when Bradders finally does hang up his gloves...

Bradders has been amoung the best goalkeepers in the Premiership since our return, luckily the advances of Arsenal and Manchester United a few years back were declined. He's certainly good enough to play for either still now. If he wishes to carry on for this long he'll have another 3-years at least in him surely? A ROVERS LEGEND if ever I saw it, Bradders has got to be one of the best, if not the best Rovers goalkeepers ever!!!

He is superb. One of those, like Jaaskelainen, who saves you so many points during the season on a regular basis.
Tierney
Definitly a Rovers Legend. I simple cannot remember how many times he has made such a terrible back line look great with as many clean sheets as he has made
sasman
Agreed and agreed with both statements.

Been a great servant to t'Rovers.

Going back to Roger Jones,Paul Bradshaw, and Tim Flowers, not to mention John Filan, this is one position we have had more good uns, than bad uns.Brad though is special,in my eyes cos of Cardiff.

Certainly, we've not struggled for quality keepers have we. Bradders always stands out as he's modern era but he's as good as almost anyone around and as good as most, if not all before him.
