Rovers Keen to Tie down Savage

Despite having 18-months left on his current Blackburn Rovers contract the club are keen to offer Robbie Savage a contract extension to deter potential suitors.

With Wigan Athletic reportedly interested in former Welsh International Savage, who despite the fact that he may entering the latter years of his career his presence and importance to the club is such that they are looking to offer him a longer term deal to see him all but finish his career at Ewood Park and fend off their interest.

Obviously players get paid a fortune nowadays but long term stability is important to them and their families so sometimes they are tempted to move on if this is on offer elsewhere, but with the club already keen to offer Sav something new, and him also keen to sign and not looking to move I don't think we have much to worry about and something should be arranged early in the New Year.

Many people hate him, we love him. Unless he plays for your team you don't appreciate how important he is to you so tying him down for the rest of his career (or at last meaningful career) is important to the club for both our short term and long term futures.

If we had 11 Robbie Savages on the field, whilst it might be dangerous( hahaha), we definitly will be one of the best teams in the league. He plays with heart and passion, week in, week out and is one of our more consistent players.

Couldn't agree more! Although we maybe would end many games with only 6 Sav's left on the pitch lol
