Nesmachniy in Blackburn Trial

Dynamo Kiev left-back Andriy Nesmachniy has arrived at Blackburn Rovers as expected; and will spend the next few days training with the club.

Mark Hughes today confirmed the arrival of the Ukrainian International defender who is undergoing a trial (one of Sparky's favourite means of assessing a player) ahead of a possible move to Ewood Park in the January transfer window:

"I've come up against him at international level and I've been impressed with him," said Hughes.

"It was made known to us that he may be available to come in and have a couple of days training with us and we have taken up that option.

"We are pleased that he is here, we will just have a look at him obviously and hopefully he'll enjoy the time while he is with us but it is no more than that at this stage.

"He's a left-back, he can play in the wing-back position as well, he knows the game, he has good football intelligence and has great experience with sixty-odd caps for the Ukraine and he's a good player.'

We all know taking a player on trial, looking at them first hand before deciding what to do I one of Sparky's favoured options, having gone down this road several times before:

"I've done that in the past and will continue to do it," added Hughes.

"I think it always helps if you can get a look at the guy first hand, it is ok watching videos or watching from a-far in the stand but to actually get them on your own training ground and to see them at first hand you can a better get that insight to them.

"I did it with Ryan Nelsen and Aaron Mokoena initially and it worked really well for us so it is something that I always try and do."

The trial periods with the Admiral and the Axe more than paid off, so maybe the same will happen here? One thing that is certain if Sparky isn't totally convinced after casting his eye over Nesmachniy he will not arrive at Ewood on a permanent basis.

Think most of what I could say has been said in this, and the previous article on Nesmachniy. Taking him on trial almost leaves us with nothing to lose so I'm glad to see this has been taken again.

I thought for a min that if Hughes has come across him as a player he must be 45+.
SeasideEssexXile
lol, for once he seems to be th right side of 20 :)

Spurs are also meant to be keen on the Ukranian, and apprently they don't even feel he warrants needing to undergo a trial! But we currently have him so we must have the upper hand?!?!

I have watched him once before playing for Ukraine and he is a solid performer and has experience for Europe as well. Cant do too much wrong. Good signing if he agrees and so do we.

Seen a bit of him, not to bad and is on the right side of 20 which is good. Worth a trial at the least, hope all goes well

He gets my thumbs up two so long as this doesn't come at a cost to Andy Taylor and/or Martin Olsson!!!
