A Dunn Deal for Blackburn Rovers

It appears that the only obstacle standing between David Dunn and a return to Blackburn Rovers is proving his fitness, boddingtonblue shares his thoughts on Dunny.

Rumours linking a return of the prodigal son seem to be firming up. It would seem that David may be about to come home… not Beckham but Dunn!

Another victim of Mr Souness' you have a bigger ego than I do. This kid's ability has never been in question to all who saw one of our own come through. A player with flair and that little bit of something special, we loved him all the more for that. There were questions however, all was not roses and moonlight. His attitude was questioned, he was part of the setup that saw us relegated, showboating and an unwillingness to track back for the team were obvious but we forgave him, Mr Souness did not and perhaps fearing the popularity of a home grown talent who maybe believed he was as big, if not bigger than the club he professes to love Souness cut his losses.

Dunny is now in his late 20s, time is running out for this prodigious talent to make something of his ability, not just to be another should have been. If he does come back we may find he is the profit from Lucas Neill's move?

There are only two possible outcomes. He will be a real asset, a natural replacement and even complementary presence to Mr Tugay. The spark we have missed since Matt Jansen left the club, somebody capable of that bit of magic which in this team only MGM and David Bentley are capable of providing will return. The other option is one of injuries and lack of application, which Sparky will tolerate as much as Souness did.

This may be an enormous gamble by Sparky but if it comes off!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

From what I've been told by a reliable source (you know who you are!) the only obstacle standing between Dunny and a return to Ewood Park is fitness. If he is fit, and proves this will be long-term by the transfer window he’ll be back. If this is the case I'd have him back any day of the week, you just worry that he won't be able to do this, even if he can prove fitness in January will he really shake the injuries off once and for all?!?!

Would most Rovers fans welcome him back?

I'm going to put my neck on the line and say YES! I could be wrong though?!?!

I welcome Dunn back, it would offer the chance to rest Tugay and not lose the creative spark in the centre, I know he has his fitness worries but surely being back at his fav club will see this improve. We need another couple of midfielders as well, well with Reid coming bcak he can cover the whole 4 positions but I think we need more cover in the centre for Savage and Tugay

We'd all welcome Dunny back... especially now!

To be honest I was amazed when he left in the first place.

SeasideEssexXile I think your question has been more than answered!

Sounds like a poll question to me?????????

I must be the only one that thinks his best is long past. Yes I remember the talent at his best but I have not forgoten the weeks when it appeared he couldn't be bothered to chase, being overwight and not seeming to care. His long term fitness record is a real worry, even if short term he passes a medical. Keep the £1 million to use as part cost of a more reliable and younger talent. To those who say he is worth £1 million, don't forget that is only the down payment, he will want a substancial wage contract.

Looks like a poll is in order, as maybe not everyone is so suyre? Obviously the fitness and injury issues are a worry, and these have been mentioned but for what he could do with us needing that spark surely he's worth a punt? The club won't pay over the odds for him though will they, if he wants too much, or brum do it wont happen.
