Rovers Suffer Emerton Injury Blow

Blackburn Rovers have been handed yet another injury blow with the news that inform Brett Emerton will be out for at least a couple of weeks.

The Australian International, who has been a revelation this season, almost like a new signing since Mark Hughes converted him to right-back at the start of the season picked up and injury in Rovers 1-0 defeat to Charlton Athletic last night.

"We've lost Brett Emerton again to a hamstring, I think that is a consequence to the summer that he's had with his World Cup involvement," said Hughes to the official Blackburn Rovers website.

"It looks as if it is the same injury that he suffered earlier in the season, hopefully it's not too severe and we can get him back in a couple of weeks."

Emerton has played the last couple of games on the right side of midfield, a position more familiar to Rovers fans (prior to this season) and has again delivered when more often than not in the past he hadn't.

With Ryan Nelsen, Steven Reid and Jason Roberts already on the treatment table an injury to another Rovers player, and one of the most consistent performers this season to boot is the last thing we needed. All being well though he will return well ahead of the hectic Christmas schedule, with the others due to start returning shortly after…

If you'd told me a few months back that an injury to Brett Emerton would have been anywhere close to as much of a blow as having the likes of the Admiral and Reidy out I'd have laughed at you. This is a HUGE set back, he is a player we really needed at this time. Lets hope its only a couple of weeks and nothing more.

Haha. Unbelievable isn't it. For three years we've been wondering what happened to that Aussie that destroyed Wolves. If he'd have left in the close season i may actually have gone out for a quick celebratory drink. Now, i'm gutted that he's going to be missing. Contender for player of the season so far if you ask me.
