Steven Reid on the Road to Recovery

Having missed most of the season though injury Blackburn Rovers midfielder Steven Reid is making a rapid recovering from his back injury and could return early in January.

After six weeks of complete rest the Republic of Ireland International has been given the green light to resume light training so could return early in January all being well.

Mark Hughes said:

"We've had some good news on Steven. He went to see a specialist earlier this week and he's been given the go-ahead to start his rehab again.

"Obviously, he's just spent six weeks doing absolutely nothing so hopefully he'll now step things up and get back very quickly."

With it originally feared Reidy may be out until February or March, if he even returned at all this season this could be a massive boost for Rovers who have sorely missed his midfield influence.

He's top class, been missed more than some people might have expected. I'm sure we can too but we'll have a battle with Portsmouth and co for a UEFA Cup spot, should be a great second half to the season for 3rd - 6th anyway.

havin reidy backwill hopfully give us the boost in midfield we need. then all we need is nelson to tighten up the defence!

Reid will be a massive boost for the Blackburn midfield, he has energy and a great shot, He also allows Hughes to rest Tugay, to keep him fresh, which is only a good thing. When we get Reid back and then Nelsen I think u'll see Blackburn go up in the league, 5th or 6th would be grand, obviously higher would be nice but im not sure with our start we could expect more!

It's only 9 points between Rovers and Arsenal, so a win tonight reduces it to 6, the League is that tight so a good run between now and January (when Reid, Nelsen etc return) and we could very well be sitting 3rd by the January sales!
