We Can Score More Than One Goal!

We Can Score More Than One Goal!

Saturday proved that Blackburn Rovers can score more than one goal in a Premiership match!

The 2-0 win over Fulham at Ewood Park on Saturday afternoon showed that despite being able to do this several times in the UEFA Cup we can do this in the League also.

For the first time since we last won a Premiership match when we beat Wigan Athletic 2-1 (TWO MONTHS AGO!) also at Ewood Park we managed to score more than a single goal in a Premiership match. This was only the third time all season we have managed this, the other being a 4-2 victory over Manchester City (again at Ewood).

Rovers boss Mark Hughes was obviously very pleased with our days work. Speaking to Radio Rovers after the game he said:

"The points are welcome it is important that we start to get points on the board and we have done today. I thought we were excellent today; there were some big performances out there.

"I thought our play was good and I sensed a real feeling to get the job done today and you could see that from the off. We weren't to be denied today I thought we were excellent.

"I thought the front two were good today, they worked extremely hard with good interplay as well between themselves, a good performance.

"I thought we were excellent today it would have taken a good team to have beaten us."

Let's hope that Shabani Nonda's first goal since the end of September and Benni's first strike since mid October can see us go on something of a goalscoring spree now (seeing us 'Sparked into life!') continuing at the Valley on Tuesday night when we face struggling Charlton Athletic…

If we don't score at least two more at Charlton I'll be surprised. IF Derbyshire is part of the squad I'll not be surprised in the least if he scored his first Rovers goal at senior level if he's given a chance!

Yeah all the better as you say with no set play being involved. Has to be said though there was some poor defending as both goals came about as a result of long balls from the back really. Missed chances but at least we created them I guess and most importantly it didn't cost us, bring on Charlton when we'll score at least two more!

well nonda's goal was the best out of the 2 but that was due to the keeper's bad possioning and McCarthy was very lucky with is gaol ?? what was the keeper doing ?

Nonda's was interesting, quick thinking but doubt he meant that. 'keeper wasn't very well positioned I'd agree but his defence didn't really help him. McCarthy had a touch of luck but we deserve it!

Im not gonna complain about a bit of luck as we have not had any for a while now... i.e. Spurs, Villa, Bolton. So we are due a bit of luck and if it takes a sly deflection for the strikers to get their confidence back then I dont care in the slightest!!!

Championship Cost Per Goal So Far In 2016/17

The end of the Championship campaign of 2016/17 is only a month and a bit away from fans across the country but as we go in to the remaining weeks of the campaign...

Positive Signs For Bennett

Bennett was positive of Blackburn being able to see off Lancashire rivals Preston heading into this game at Ewood Park after the Norwich and Fulham results.

Minor Graham Setback

Blackburn had to do without Danny Graham against Preston following the groin problem that forced him off against Fulham last week. He could return against Brighton next week.

Hugely Frustrating

Mowbray admitted Blackburn didn't start the game well against Preston but had then been the dominant side so was 'majorly disappointed' not to record a victory.
