Although the initial hype surrounding a David Beckham move to Blackburn Rovers has died down somewhat sasman and marshinrover share their contrasting views on the issue.

sasman says:

1 - We have David Bentley, Paul Gallacher, Steven Reid and Brett Emerton, all with the capabilities of playing right flank.

2 - Free transfer yes but wages, definitely out of our range.

We should be looking at investing in a strong young central midfielder, maybe even two… that's where we need cover, not David Beckham on the right flank!

This part of the article was produced using a comment posted by boddingtonblue recently.

Whereas on the other hand marshinrover (with the help of Morten Gamst Pedersen!) says:

Former England captain David Beckham looks likely to quit Spanish side Real Madrid in the summer after failing to have many first team starts under new boss Fabio Capello.

Mark Hughes recently admitted that he would love to bring the former Manchester United star to Ewood Park and Norwegian star Morten Gamst Pedersen has sent an invitation to Beckham to join his former Manchester United team-mate (Hughes) at Ewood.

He told the Lancashire Evening Telegraph: "Our manager, Mark Hughes, has been linked with Beckham.

"Blackburn is a good place to be at the moment and if any big player wants to play for us, he is welcome.

"It's good to have good players in your side. There are not many players in the world who have had a career like Beckham.

"He's a good player and we know what he can give, so he would be welcome if he wants to come.

"Now would be a good time."

Well that's good news for us; we could have Beckham on our team very soon. I would have him but would you?

The second half of this article was written by marshinrover.

So two contrasting opinions there sasman is adverse to the idea, marshinrover is very much for it as well as Rovers own Morten Gamst Pedersen.

I can see many arguments for and against but either way I'd very much doubt Lancashire will be the first choice destination of Mrs Beckham… who will probably have the final say!

I would agree that we should be thinking of younger players in the middle of the pitch as the ones we have there are at present - Savage and Tugay - are the wrong side of 30 but on the other hand if Hughes believes he can land a player like Beckham for Blackburn then why the hell not? He is still world class, he still is one of the best crossers of the ball in the world, no one better at freekicks etc Any transfer money would still be there if he was got on the free, apart from a siging on fee, his wages would be paid for by the massive merchanise revenue that comes with him ( mentioned by Hughes the Man ) It may increase the crowds and all in all would raise the profile of the club with other players maybe seen as out of reach to a smaller Premiership club, that a player like Beckham would play for Blackburn

Fair points Clint, you argue both sides well. I can't take credit for the merchandise revenue etc. thought Clint it makes sense but I'm sure someone else mentioned this before me.

Well it was ur comment i read. I just think that if it possible to get a world class talent then it would be stupid not to try. Although its probably well known that I would like more youngsters to be in the team i think this is too good a possibility, there will be a lot of competition from big clubs but why would he he not want the chance to revive his career at an up and coming club, he must still have a house in or near Manchester.

I disagree to an extent marshin as Bentley has done a fine job on the right so where would that leave him?
