Benni Needs A Partner With Pace

Following sasman's views on Blackburn Rovers striker Benni McCarthy, boddingtonblue answers back with his views on the type of partner that Benni needs.

I think you are being a bit harsh. Benni McCarthy likes to play off a front man. He is not the quickest in the world but I do not believe he is a back to goal striker. He needs a partner who plays in front of him with real pace, we did have his ideal strike partner in Craig Bellamy which I think was Sparky's plan but that's football.

Jason Roberts has never got going and is now out until the New Year. We are creating chances as demonstrated in Holland last week. I do not think Shabani Nonda is the answer he is a stop gap like Florent Sinama Pongolle was.

I think the gaffer knows who he wants and is just waiting for him to become available.

The rumours surrounding the Cypriot guy seem to be firming up. I would not be surprised to see another loan deal, with him in and Nonda out.

If someone was to offer silly money for Morten Gamst Pedersen I would sell him. He disappears in games all the stuff about a broken rib may just be a smoke screen. Bring back Duffy!

Any points we pick up now are a bonus prior to the return of Reidy and the Admiral, then we will start going up the League.

boddingtonblue and me think alike! I don't think Nonda is going to cut it in the prem, much like pongolle... I've said this before. I think the reason Hughesy continued to play MGP was the same reason that Sven kept Beckham in the England side - his ability in set pieces. In the absence of other options I would like to see Frannie and Sergio get a good run of starts.

I totally agree with the Peter issue, he HAS to get a run of games he's shown enough quality when we've seen him to earn this, plus there is more to his game than delivery alone, not that I'm saying that is all Pedersen offers! As for Nonda I do like the guy but I'm having my doubts also, hard work is all very well but we need more so Im not so sure the deal should be permanent, well certainly not in January. As for Jeffers, yeah maybe its time he had a run in the side like Nonda has been given.
Hughes Da Man
I don't think Peter has much to offer Rovers, from what I have seen of him he is too lightweight and offers nothing special other than hard graft. Nonda has struggled to make any impact apart from the Boro goal - I thought he would have done better. Jeffers has lost all of his ability and is still clinging onto his reputation of "fox in the box" for one season about 5 years ago - he should be shipped out to the Championship where he would make an impact.
Wellsy
Obviously we all like Pedersen but you can argue that he is also lightweight!?!? What else has he offered Rovers this season besides his delivery, and even that has been poor more often than not. Unless given a real chance how can Sergio Peter ever really be judged? To a degree it is the same with Jeffers, without being given that chance at Ewood how can he be judged? Obviously with Arsenal, Charlton, Everton (loan) and Rangers (loan) he struggled so from that point of view it has been lost but we were meant to be the team to get him back to somewhere near his best with him looking sharp in training apparently, but without games we'll never know.

lol i was thinking of bellamy with mccarthy i think that will be a great partenership

Peter may be lightweight but so was Pederson at the start, i'd like to see him at least challenge for the spot as this would give Morton a kick up the arse, maybe that's more wot he needs!! Nonda is good but I agree that with him trying to gian a contract at the club he really hasn't shown that he is good enough to earn one. Jeffers needs his cahnce to show whether he has lost his ability, if he has then yeah get rid, as he cost nothing, well aprt from wages, this will be no big loss he he's proves to be a donkey
