Great Ever Rovers Squad: Left-backs

Great Ever Rovers Squad: Left-backs

If you had the money of a Roman Abramovich and even a time machine I'm sure you would love to put together a Blackburn Rovers Greatest Ever Squad… This is your chance as we continue compiling this squad with the left-backs!

We all have our favourite players and know of the legendary ones even if we haven't seen them so now is our chance to get these brought together as you the Vital Blackburn Rovers fans get a chance to compile what you consider the Greatest Ever Blackburn Rovers Squad.

This squad will comprise of the following, with the goalkeepers already selected:

3 Goalkeepers (Tim Flowers, Brad Friedel & Bobby Mimms)

2 Left-backs (or Wing-backs)
2 Right-backs (or Wing-backs)
4 Centre-backs

2 Left-midfielders (or Wingers)
2 Right-midfielders (or Wingers)
4 Central Midfielders

4 Forwards

To put together this squad we need to think of names so below leave your suggestion for the LEFT-BACK or LEFT-BACKS you would like to be considered for selection. Remember left wing-backs are also viable options.

Once we have enough names (at least three, ideally six) we will put it to the vote and the top two will make it into the Greatest Ever Rovers Squad.

Should you suggest more than six left-backs I will either have to consider those most frequently suggested or somehow get you to decide on the final six people voted on?

This is your chance so post your left full-back or left full-backs names below. Why not also post a word or two on why you have selected them…

Keith Newton signed for Blackburn Rovers in October 1960. Originally a wing-half, he was converted to a full-back, and became one of England's finest defenders. He played at either right or left-back. Newton signed for Everton in December 1969 for £80,000, after making over 300 first-team appearances for Blackburn Rovers. He made 58 appearances for Everton scoring only one goal. He played in the latter half of the 1969-70 season in which Everton won the championship. Everton gave him a free transfer to Burnley in 1971. Newton won his first cap for England in February 1966. He played 27 times for England until 1970 including the first three matches of the 1970 World Cup in Mexico before being injured.

Alan Wright Kenny Dalglish noticed Wright, and brought him to Ewood Park for £400,000. He spent 4 years at Ewood park, but thanks to the arrival of England left back Graeme Le Saux, made only 67 appearances for the club, He was, however, part of the Blackburn squad that won the Premiership in the 1994-95 season.

KEEP the names coming, just because they have been mentioned it doesn't mean they can't again. The more times people mention a player (only taken into account once from each member) the easier it is to narrow down the poll on who is voted and the better chance your names have of getting it! SO KEEP ADDING YOUR NAMES PLEASE!
