Great Ever Rovers Squad: Left-backs

If you had the money of a Roman Abramovich and even a time machine I'm sure you would love to put together a Blackburn Rovers Greatest Ever Squad… This is your chance as we continue compiling this squad with the left-backs!

We all have our favourite players and know of the legendary ones even if we haven't seen them so now is our chance to get these brought together as you the Vital Blackburn Rovers fans get a chance to compile what you consider the Greatest Ever Blackburn Rovers Squad.

This squad will comprise of the following, with the goalkeepers already selected:

3 Goalkeepers (Tim Flowers, Brad Friedel & Bobby Mimms)

2 Left-backs (or Wing-backs)
2 Right-backs (or Wing-backs)
4 Centre-backs

2 Left-midfielders (or Wingers)
2 Right-midfielders (or Wingers)
4 Central Midfielders

4 Forwards

To put together this squad we need to think of names so below leave your suggestion for the LEFT-BACK or LEFT-BACKS you would like to be considered for selection. Remember left wing-backs are also viable options.

Once we have enough names (at least three, ideally six) we will put it to the vote and the top two will make it into the Greatest Ever Rovers Squad.

Should you suggest more than six left-backs I will either have to consider those most frequently suggested or somehow get you to decide on the final six people voted on?

This is your chance so post your left full-back or left full-backs names below. Why not also post a word or two on why you have selected them…

This is your call, again I'll be hoping to stand back and let you mention the names! You'll have as long as a week to make your suggestions then we'll start voting!
Hughes Da Man
William Eckersley he played for Blackburn Rovers F.C. between 1947 and 1961. He also earned 17 caps for the England national football team, and was part of England's 1950 FIFA World Cup team.

Keith Newton signed for Blackburn Rovers in October 1960. Originally a wing-half, he was converted to a full-back, and became one of England's finest defenders. He played at either right or left-back. Newton signed for Everton in December 1969 for £80,000, after making over 300 first-team appearances for Blackburn Rovers. He made 58 appearances for Everton scoring only one goal. He played in the latter half of the 1969-70 season in which Everton won the championship. Everton gave him a free transfer to Burnley in 1971. Newton won his first cap for England in February 1966. He played 27 times for England until 1970 including the first three matches of the 1970 World Cup in Mexico before being injured.

Alan Wright Kenny Dalglish noticed Wright, and brought him to Ewood Park for £400,000. He spent 4 years at Ewood park, but thanks to the arrival of England left back Graeme Le Saux, made only 67 appearances for the club, He was, however, part of the Blackburn squad that won the Premiership in the 1994-95 season.
govtpros
Good names govtpros, good to hear from you again.
Hughes Da Man
Greame La Saux ??
marshinrover
sorry i thought socksey would be a gimme... as we are a founder member I feel that we should look at the old boys just as much as the Premiership players. Nice to be back!
govtpros
Le Saux is a gimme you are right! I'm sure I have a few names up my sleeve but I'll hang fire! So where you been govtpros?
Hughes Da Man
KEEP the names coming, just because they have been mentioned it doesn't mean they can't again. The more times people mention a player (only taken into account once from each member) the easier it is to narrow down the poll on who is voted and the better chance your names have of getting it! SO KEEP ADDING YOUR NAMES PLEASE!
Hughes Da Man
i always like callum davidson. Faded since he was a rover but always a comitted member of the team.
im_a_blackburn_rover
It's time for me to step in and add some names! Le Saux, the gimmie has to be here, Alan Wright, William Eckersley, Keith Newton.
Hughes Da Man
What about Johnny Carey and Fergus Suter.
Hughes Da Man
Vratislav Gresko or Dominic Matteo, jokes jokes lol not to many good left backs in recent times, not a good sign, well maybe we can add lucas neill in, dont no if he qualifies as a left back though
sasman
Left-backs haven't been a strong area... what about Stig Inje Bjornebye?
Hughes Da Man
Yea he was pretty consistent, totally forgot about him, still does lucas qualify for this poll?
sasman
There is no not qualifying for the poll! The more times a person is recommended (by different members) the better chance they have of getting into the poll. IF it comes down to more than six and they've been recommended the same number of times I'll have to use my digression or as people who should/shouldn't dip out.
Hughes Da Man
so KEEP THESE NAMES COMEING PEOPLE!
Hughes Da Man
as i said Greame La Saux
marshinrover
or micheal gray he's not too bad
marshinrover
As far as left backs ,what about john Bailey, who went on to play for Everton,a product of our our youth system at the time. (POSTING THIS ON BEHALF OF BODDINGTONBLUE WHO HAS BEEN UNABLE TO POST ON ANYTHING BAR THE FORUM)
Hughes Da Man
Only a couple of days left to add your names so if you don't now you'll miss out!
