Watch "that" Tugay Goal Again!

Tugay's goal for Blackburn Rovers against Tottenham Hotspur is a goal I personally will never tire of seeing! If you are the same here is your chance to view it again and again.

The maestro's superb 25-yard volley with textbook technique only gets better each time I see it and is even better from various angles! Tugay has the knack of keeping the ball motionless when he strikes it, the ball doesn't seem to rotate or spin it as it seeks out its target! To see goal click here

The studio guest for Sunday's live Sky game Tim Sherwood, a former Rovers player of course summed the strike up brilliantly when he said:

"Paul Robinson nearly saved it… on the way out!"

The veteran's performance before, as well as after the goal was another hour long master class display for any youngster to watch and admire and SHOULD have seen him earn the Man of the Match award. But instead of him earning this and leaving Ewood Park to standing ovation as would have been inevitable when he was substituted by Mark Hughes at some point, again another scenario of almost certain inevitability, this applause had to be muted due to the shocking decision to send him off!

I make no secret of my admiration of the legendary Turk, with him one of the footballers I rate at the very top of my pyramid of "greatest" players, Rovers or otherwise so another performance and goal only add to why the club need to get him tied down to a new contract sooner rather than later.

Tugay himself wants to remain a Rovers player but if he isn't offered something soon he could (although as unlikely as it is!) be poached away for one last hurrah with another side?

Gary McAllister was very much at the veteran stage when Liverpool made the shock decision to bring him in from Coventry City and he played a key role in their treble winning season earning him an extension to his initial one year deal. Maybe Gary Mac wasn't quite as old as Tugay at the time but if he keeps performing like he is maybe another club will be tempted to take a punt of the former Turkish International?

The sooner a contract is put in front of Tugay the better it will be for the club and those growing up within it as he will be an example to any aspiring Rovers midfield youngster. Watching him play and training with him could and almost certainly would see them learn things they couldn't from many other people!

A year-long contract with an option of a second at the very least has to be what will be in the offering…

Legend and what a goal never tire of it. Get a new deal in front of him and quick!

Absolute legend. If my memory serves me right, tugay has featured in the top ten goals of the year over the last 4 years, with 2 cracking volleys from corners and another one outside the box. This is his second volley of the year, with the other in the UEFA cup. With several news broadcasts calling it a lucky shot, i believe that Tugay is just a master of this technique, something all young footballers should watch and learn from

Sure is and as is right will be added to the "Rovers Legends" section very soon. I'm working on it at the moment. This will be very close to goal of the season (and not just for Rovers!) masterful technique wasn't it. I've been saying for weeks that he should have a 2-3 year contract offered with coaching duties (if he wanted?) What the youngsters could learn if he was actually coaching would be worth its weight in gold. Watching him in training will help but if he's actually training them as a coach my how they'd learn!
Hughes Da Man
I hope to high heaven that he has the ability to teach even just a small sliver of his skills. The man's a footballing genius, and if he'd spent the last few years at one of the larger clubs, i'm sure he'd have been in line for foreign sportsman of the year once or twice. First on my "All time 11" teamsheet, without a doubt. (Yes, before Shearer)
Head Rover Heels
I'd probably go along with you Head Rover Heels on all of those calls!
Hughes Da Man
well he can play as long as he wants till hes 50 and we wont comlain if he is still as good
