Manchester United legend and current Blackburn Rovers boss Mark Hughes has long been tipped to eventually take the reigns at Old Trafford… Our own midfielder Aaron Mokoena has backed Sparky to do just that!
South African International Mokoena feels that Hughes has all the qualities needed to succeed Sir Alex Ferguson at United when he eventually does retire, but he still hopes that Sparky will remain at Ewood Park for some time yet. Speaking to the Sun newspaper Mokoena said:
"I admire him as a coach and I don't see why he couldn't do well at United.
"He's been in there and made a name for himself as a player.
"Mark has been at United and knows a lot about the club — but he has also played for some of the biggest sides in the world.
"As a player you want to achieve things and as a manager you want the same.
"The higher you go, that's where you get you the biggest challenges.
"I'm sure he is concentrating on Blackburn and he wants to do as well as possible — but you can never tell about tomorrow.
"It would be a massive move for him. I don't have any doubts about him doing well at any club he manages."
I'm with Mokoena (as I'm sure that we all are?) that Sparky does have all the qualities needed to one day become the United manager, with Sparky himself in the past admitting that this is a challenge he would relish.
With United in such fine form this season and Fergie as focused on his job as ever WHOEVER takes over at United will have some time to wait yet... unless United win the Champions League this season which could leave Sir Alex feeling that maybe his work done?
