Nugent Not For Sale: Paul Simpson

Paul Simpson insists he will ignore talk of January sales at Preston North End, with David Nugent once again linked with a move to the Premiership.

England under-21 International hitman Nugent has repeatedly been linked with a move to the top flight with Sheffield United and Blackburn Rovers reportedly ready to rival Everton in the chase for his signature.

But with Preston in fine form in the Championship, Nugent is not the only player in the squad who has been linked with a move in the New Year. Preston manager Simpson told the Lancashire Evening Post:

"It's not easy because I'm told that in a Sunday paper last week, nearly every member of our squad was mentioned.

"I think you just have to ignore it all. Its part of football, you just can't do anything about it. The best policy is just to take everything with a huge pinch of salt and get on with it."

I don't think we need anymore strikers unless some one special comes up, like the young Egyptian 'Amr Zaki' for example. But do you think we need someone like Nugent on our team?

I agree with you on the English talent, he is also young which is a bonus. I like the guy and think he could do a job and could be that something special you are after marshin.

I think if we can get Nugent we should. He has all the attributes for being a solid frontman for years to come.
