Crewe Want to Extend Taylor's Loan

Blackburn Rovers defender Andy Taylor's loan spell at Crewe Alexandra is scheduled to end after Crewe's game at the weekend but Alex manager Dario Gradi hopes he can keep him for longer.

The 20-year-old full-back has proved something of a hit at Gresty Road so it is no wonder that Crewe are looking to extend the loan. Speaking on the official Crewe Alexandra website Gradi said:

"We wanted to keep Andy until the end of the season but Blackburn have other ideas for him which is fine. I'm in the hands of Mark Hughes really because it is up to him. We would certainly like to keep him for at least another month to help us ease our injury concerns and maybe bring in a reinforcement there.

"Andy has come here and filled in extremely well. I don't think we could have asked for a better replacement for Billy Jones than him. He has been outstanding and would keep his place even if Billy was fit.

"Billy is versatile enough to fight for a place elsewhere in the team, but Andy deserves to stay in. We are hoping that the Brentford game won't be his last with us, but we'll have to see what Blackburn want to do."

Personally, so long as he returned after I would more than happily see Taylor extend his stay and learn from Gradi for another month at least, maybe even the rest of the season?

The fact that Rovers have turned down the initial season long request means he is in Hughes' plans but realistically is he going to get much game time if he returns this season?

Surely he has to stay at Crewe for now, it will CERTAINLY help his future development learning from such a master as Dario Gradi
Hughes Da Man
