Greatest Ever Blackburn Rovers Squad

If you had the money of a Roman Abramovich and even a time machine I'm sure you would love to put together a Blackburn Rovers Greatest Ever Squad… If so this is your chance!

I'm afraid I have neither Abramovich's money nor indeed a time machine (it's on the way though!) but I can however help you select the Greatest Ever 23-man Blackburn Rovers Squad.

We all have our favourite players and know of the legendary ones even if we haven't seen them so now is your chance to get these brought together as you the Vital Blackburn Rovers fans get a chance to compile what you consider the Greatest Ever Blackburn Rovers Squad.

This squad will comprise of the following:

3 Goalkeepers

2 Left-backs (or Wing-backs)
2 Right-backs (or Wing-backs)
4 Centre-backs

2 Left-midfielders (or Wingers)
2 Right-midfielders (or Wingers)
4 Central Midfielders

4 Forwards

First of all you, the Vital Blackburn Rovers viewers will select a 23-man squad.

How will this be done?
Simple, each position will be broken down for you to recommend players for each roll. Those recommended then get voted on.

I'll post an article for the featured position then you simply leave the name or names as you maybe have several (ideally with comments why you've selected the people) then the players mentioned (most frequently will then be voted on.) Hopefully we can get at least one more than the amount needed, ideally six of each to really spice up the competition! The top players voted into each position will indeed fill those positions in the squad.

The squad compilation will begin with Goalkeepers shortly so keep your eyes peeled.

What happens when the Vital Blackburn Rovers Greatest Ever Squad is complete?
Once an ultimate squad has been selected we will then endeavour to whittle this down to a Greatest Ever Starting XI, with named substitutes.

Will this then be the end of the Vital Blackburn Rovers Greatest Ever Squad and Starting XI?
No… once the squad and starting XI are selected this can run and run with players being voted in or out of the squad and starting XI if and when people make recommendations for additions and removals. So this literally can run and run forever!

What do you think? Is this feature a good idea or one you would rather not see it? Leave your comments below so I know…

Obviously with this being my idea I am going to like it but only want to do it if you, the Vital Blackburn readers want it. I only want to do things that you want to see and be a part of. So PLEASE do let me know what you think. If you want it we'll get the ball rolling with 'keepers ASAP.

Surprised you've had no response fella, good idea, might steal it for our site too!!
BaldyYid
In all fairness it only went on today so I'm sure (I HOPE!) it will take off. Typical Spurs trying to nick something again (I'm only kidding!)

Also eurosport says that Egyptioan Defender Amir Azmy Megahed will join Reading and Egyptian Striker Amr Zaki will join Manchester City. Can u please da Man check if this is true ? to see the news urself see this link http://www.eurosport.com/football/premiership/2006-2007/sport_sto1004810.shtml

All signs are pointing to Gomaa arriving. Megahed has been linked with a move to England for sometime now I believe so that wouldn't surprise me. Zaki has been lniked with City and Rovers, personally I don't think Rovers will but City are after a forward.

I don't really know how Vital football works, but if the club sites are connected in any way, then this really is a cracking idea that could be used for all clubs. Normally the "best ever" sort of articles are completely unappealling, and generally result in some sort of, er, spitting contest. This way however might end up with some forgotten greats cropping up. Top marks HDM - Wouldn't be surprised to see this idea on a few of the other club sites on here.
Head Rover Heels
Thanks Head Rover Heels. I can honestly say that I haven't seen this idea anywhere else on Vital (not saying it isn't though) it just came to me. If ALL our members have our say then this should really take off and all manor of names will crop up.
