Host Of Youngsters Sign On

Blackburn Rovers are clearing out the deadwood (releasing two today) but players that we'll be hoping will be our future have all signed contracts today of varying lengths.

One of the most highly rated is Jack O'Connell. He impressed on loan with Rochdale last season with the 20-year-old defenders performances helping them to promotion from League Two into League One, over the next two-years (at least) he'll now be looking to stake a claim to be in Gary Bowyer's first-team.

Another youngster to sign a two-year contract was Modou Cham with Bradley Bauress, Kellen Daly, Darragh Lenihan and John O'Sullivan all signing contracts that will last for one-year with 18-year-old midfielder David Carson officially arriving today after a trial with Rovers last season, he's also signed a one-year contract.

Luke Varney's arrival on a free transfer was of course today also confirmed after his contract with Leeds United expired. I'm not personally that convinced by Varney and not sure if I would've given him a contract, however, I'll bow to Bowyer's judgement and trust this call.

Irish Eyes Are Smiling

Blackburn`s game against Doncaster had already been called off. If it hadn`t, it definitely would with the Republic of Ireland`s decision to include two defenders in the final squad.

No Tippy-Tappy Performer

Bradley Dack has proven plenty of ability on the ball and has a keen eye for a goal, but the former Gillingham man has also show he's physically able and willing to get stuck in.

Modest Marksman

You'll not find many who haven't been impressed by Armstrong since he came to Blackburn. The on-loan Newcastle forwards goalscoring exploits speak for themselves.

Different Date Same Outcome

International call ups for Leutwiler, Mulgrew and Evans, along with provisional calls for Lenihan and Williams mean the trip to Doncaster has changed, the hoped outcome wouldn't.
