Gamst Not So Sure of His Place?

Gamst Not So Sure of His Place?

Blackburn Rovers winger, Morten Gamst Pedersen has once again been talking to the press.

The talented left winger has been vocal amidst claims he is not on top form this season and may, one day, look to move on. A number of comments have been attributed to him over the past week or so after he claimed to Skysports that he would one day look for a move to a bigger club. He said on 21 October 2006:

"We don`t have the big stars like the big clubs in the Premier League. Manchester United is a big club, just like Liverpool and the other big clubs. It is obvious that, if a club like that made an offer, I would consider it."

It comes as no surprise that a talent like Gamst will be looking to further himself, but it is concerning when an established team member harbours such opinions. Despite the comments Gamst insists that he is happy at Blackburn but he seems to be spending a lot of time back-tracking.

His latest comments would seem to derive from the possibility that he will be missing from the team on Sunday when the squad travel to London to face West Ham. This is because of the injury he suffered against Chelsea but it may also derivate from his dip in form this season. He told Skysports;

"You have to fight every day to keep your place in the team. We have a good squad, a bigger squad this year. I want to become a better player. I work hard in training and try and learn from other players."

Gamst himself seems to be aware of his poor form although he fails to admit it out right. He continued by saying:

"You will see more from me this season as we have plenty of games left."

With Sergio Peter improving with every appearance it would appear that Gamst does indeed face competition for his position for the first time in his Rovers career. The fact that he is aware of this will surely prove to be beneficial for Rovers. Or is it a case of Gamst realizing his comments a few days prior may come across a little presumptuous?

The concern is the fact that he is continuously talking to the press after realizing he may have made a mistake by stating he will one day look to move on. At the moment he is talking a good game but his performances aren`t matching up to it. I`m sure everyone at Ewood Park will be watching closely at the weekend if Gamst is in the team or not and why that is.

He is certainly talking the talk but now he has to walk the walk. He's hinting at his lack of form often but just won't quite admit it isn't there on the whole. He's had no competition before really has he so he's had it easy, Sergio Peter looks a great talent so he's pushing him hard. The time will come when Gamst will be dropped and personally I'm not sure he'll play this weekend. The injury situation could be used as a smokescreen and Peter given his chance. As much as I really, really like Gamst and as good as I think he is maybe this will do him good and he'll knuckle down forget about not wanting to mess up his hair and look to stamp his authority on games again. It's good not only for players to have competition, but also the club.

A liitle competition is good for players though I hope he dosnt take it the badly and want to leave, im sure he wont but if Peter is playing well and Pederson isnt I know who i'd pick. Peter will have to take this chance to shine if Pederson injury keeps him out for a couple of games

That is always the worry when star players are left out but even they have to realise if they aren't performing they can be allowed to keep playing week in week out.

His dip in form started at the end of last season, he hasn't really been consistant. Don't get me wrong, i think he has natural talent but I would question his attitude. The gossip from Brockhall is that he has let things go to his head a bit. Supposedly him and Tugay fell out because he wasn't showing enough respect to the more experinced players. But Sergio look up for it on Wednesday - I would love to see him get a run.

That wouldn't surprise me, again I'm with you MGP is a natural talent but this can give you a "greater than great" attitude can't it.

well i think hes happy here but he just wants to play in a team with pure talant like man u or chelsea we have some really good players such as MGP him self and McCarthy and other such as todd or matteo so i think if we bring more talant in and i mean goooooood players like Benni then he will settle down a bit and stop talking about him wanted better talanet to play with

I'm disappointed to hear about that training ground dispute, I always got the impression that Gamst looked on Tugay favourably. I always thought that things might have got to Gamst's head a little this season having read and seen a number of things that supported his stance as Norway's David Beckham.
