Former Rover Roberts retires
Former Rovers striker Jason Roberts has retired from professional football, after finding his latest run of injuries too much to overcome.
Roberts, who served Rovers (his penultimate club) for 6 years between 2006-2012 was never a regular scorer but did fulfill the modern day striker function of being an able striker partner and a strong hold up play man.
But after finding niggles hard to master at his final club Reading, Roberts decided to call time on a long career - deciding to concentrate on his media career.
'It is with great sadness that I have to announce my retirement from professional football on medical grounds,' Roberts said in a personal statement.
'I have had an amazing 17 years playing professional football and I'm proud of everything I've achieved and am grateful for all that I've experienced.
'I've played in every division and I have fond memories of my time at each and every club I have represented, and also playing internationally for Grenada. I am now looking forward to the future and having time to focus on my charity The Jason Roberts Foundation.'
We wish Jason all the best for the future.
