Bowyer aims to regroup

Rovers finally succumbed to their first derby day defeat in nearly 35 years, throwing away a one goal lead to end up on the wrong end of a 2-1 reverse at Ewood Park.

Rovers were decent in the main, but once the nerves and the hesitation kicked in near the end, Burnley powered through and took advantage when it mattered most.

But manager Gary Bowyer, despite the disappointment has aimed to bounce back quickly, starting with Wednesday's game with Bournemouth at Ewood Park - with the play offs now six points off with 13 games left.

Bowyer told the Lancashire Telegraph - "We`ve got to go again now, we`ve got to regroup.

"We`ve got 13 big games left and people will probably write us off from the play-offs because of this result.

"But that`s not the right thing to do because there`s only six points in it, we`ve got a game in hand on one or two teams around us and, as I say, there`s 13 games left.

"We`re now getting people back from injury and it`s important we keep them fit and get the others who are out back into contention and finish as strongly as we possibly can."

Jordan Rhodes' first goal in an uncharacteristically dry spell for him was not enough as Rovers fell to late goals by Danny Ings and Jason Shackell.
