Luck still evading Blackburn!

The common thought behind most things in life is you need that little bit of luck no matter how good you are or how much quality you posses; this is no different with Blackburn Rovers.

Although Rovers are still being tarnished with the same old brush that they are a bunch of "rugby league" players, "thugs" you name it they are called it without getting the credit the club so rightly deserve as they are a great footballing side.

Some of the passages of play they have put together this season would have people drooling if it was Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool or Manchester United yet they are still overlooked and very unfairly so, still being given that narrow minded tag.

The Rovers players may not be afraid to put a challenge in which results in large numbers of fouls committed and players booked, yet a lot of these bookings are still being earned due to many officials sharing the narrow minded view of Rovers for a reputation which maybe would once have been more relevant!

Anyway, back to the main point it was widely acknowledged that with a bit of luck, which seems to be constantly evading Rovers and regularly going against them that Rovers could go onto have another hugely successful season and maybe even go on and win the UEFA Cup?

This luck still seems to be deserting Rovers however! We`ve failed to gain penalties when maybe we might have. Whilst we are having penalty after penalty called against us when they never were, or were at least very soft. Even Wisla Krakow's goal in Thursdays UEFA Cup took a wicked deflection off Tugay to beat a stranded Brad Friedel.

The majority of this article was written before Sunday's local derby with Bolton Wanderers in which luck again failed to swing in our favour. Sure you can argue we were given two penalties both of which were saved so in a way luck deserted us here but two other clear cut penalties were also denied us before these. Surely at least one of four penalties would have been scored!

As if that wasn't bad enough what appeared a clear goal was failed to be called as such. Zurab Khizinashvilli's header seemed over the line before Gary Speed made his clearance but neither the referee nor his assistant called it that way.

Even though the luck is going against Rovers it is still VERY encouraging to see just how well we are doing overall even taking into account Sundays defeat and how we are generally overcoming this misfortune. Imagine how much better we could have been doing should this luck have not passed us by or indeed how much better off we will be if/when this changes!!!
