Campbell heads to the Den

Campbell heads to the Den

Rovers have been busy beavers this afternoon.

With the club looking to decrease the wage bill the news of another departure on substantial wages will come as that of the pleasant variety, with DJ Campbell moving to Millwall on loan for the remainder of the campaign.

Campbell has taken the opportunity to link up with former manager Ian Holloway, who managed DJ when he was at Blackpool, and manager Gary Bowyer has confirmed that the club have consented due to a lack of first team opportunities for the player.

'With his ankle injury in pre-season and the arrival of Rudy Gestede, DJ has found his chances limited and at this stage of his career he needs to be playing games,' Bowyer told the official website.

'The attraction of Millwall for DJ is that he can go back to London, where his family are from and he'll be reunited with Ian Holloway. The pair have a lot of time for each other.

'Both parties felt that it was the right move and it will be good for him to get some games under his belt.'

Under the terms of his loan, Campbell cannot face his parent club when the sides meet in the league in March.

Honestly can't see a downside to this, we've had a (temporary) lucky escape.

Irish Eyes Are Smiling

Blackburn`s game against Doncaster had already been called off. If it hadn`t, it definitely would with the Republic of Ireland`s decision to include two defenders in the final squad.

No Tippy-Tappy Performer

Bradley Dack has proven plenty of ability on the ball and has a keen eye for a goal, but the former Gillingham man has also show he's physically able and willing to get stuck in.

Modest Marksman

You'll not find many who haven't been impressed by Armstrong since he came to Blackburn. The on-loan Newcastle forwards goalscoring exploits speak for themselves.

Different Date Same Outcome

International call ups for Leutwiler, Mulgrew and Evans, along with provisional calls for Lenihan and Williams mean the trip to Doncaster has changed, the hoped outcome wouldn't.
