'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Expect hammerings…what hammerings!

Following Blackburn Rovers' opening day mauling from Portsmouth in a game Rovers were lucky to only lose 3-0 many expected to see more of these...so where have they been?

A poll posted immediately after that game asked, "Is Saturday's mauling a sign of things to come?" At the time a massive 75% voted in favour of Yes! Thinking there would be a few more of these to come... so again I say where have they been?

Since that game Rovers have gone on to lose just ONE match in all competitions and even this came against Chelsea, the defending Champions and one the best, if not the best teams in European if not World football! Even that game could not be classed as a mauling could it? Rovers had a couple of chances and were put on the path to defeat by a dodgy penalty and maybe should have had a penalty of their own.

So two defeats in eleven matches in League and UEFA Cup competitions is not bad going at all is it! It is a record that is indeed not far off, if not better than most of the other so called bigger clubs.

The 19% who voted in favour of it merely being a blip on the radar have without doubt been vindicated in their decision. I possibly think that those voting at the time were probably other Vital Football members as numbers for Vital Blackburn were few and far on what they are now so maybe the true voice wasn't being heard.

So much for Rovers' struggle and more heavy beatings to be being expected! The unbeaten run of eight games, with only one defeat in ten since the Portsmouth debacle has more than answered the critics.

No doubt I've tempted fate by doing this, I hope not! Last time I praised vital football and we know what happened. Surely I haven't put a curse on the Bolton game!

I wouldn't be surprised if we struggled today to be honest so I doubt we can condemn you for tempting fate HDM.
