Mijailovic denies McCarthy's claims

Nikola Mijailovic, the man accused of racially abusing Blackburn Rovers forward Benni McCarthy has denied any such offence.

The Football Association have written to UEFA requesting they look into the claims made by McCarthy that he was racially abused by several Wisla Krakow players after the match and several times by Mijailovic during it.

Although defender Mijailovic has admitted to having a running battle with our South African striker he insists that McCarthy started the trouble. Speaking to Serbian newspaper Kurir Mijailovic said:

"Almost in the first minute he hit me very badly, it was a really inappropriate move for a football player.

"When I hit back, he started to bawl, to insult me; he even started to stick his tongue out at me.

"During the game he used really numerous swear words during our duels.

Mijailovic also says that despite losing his temper at the end of the game he never used any racist comments towards McCarthy:

"At the end of the match I tried to ignore him, but he came closer and started to wag his hands in front of me.

"I couldn't stand all of that any more, so I've pushed him, and that was all.

"But, after that, I couldn't believe he was acting like a sissy. He claimed I used some racist comments. Nonsense!

"Both of us were swearing, but there was no racist abuse at all. The investigation will show I'm innocent, everything can be seen on tape."

Such allegations as made by McCarthy will be taken very seriously so hopefully the enquiry will determine once and for all what actually did happen. You would like to believe both but not both accounts can be correct can they.

If found guilty Mijailovic deserves the full punishment UEFA give him but on the other hand should McCarthy be the offending party he will surely face some punishment for making such claims?

This is a very serious area and any racial, homophobic or prejudicial comments in this day and age can not and will not be accepted on the other hand false claims don't help in stamping out the problem once and for all.

Everyone is equal regardless as to race, colour, sexual preference whatever and the sooner the world can come to terms with this the better for us all and future generations!

Let's just hope this situation gets sorted out sooner or later. There is no place in the world for this kind of thing (either making comments or saying people have made comments if you haven't, not that I'm saying Benni has done this) so lets get rid of it once and for all.

well if he didnt then thats fine but why would McCarthy make up such claims ?? i think he did and hes stust a "scum" bag and should be banned and fines for racism

You would think that Benni wouldn't make it up but this door must be left open to be fair on all parties. Personally I would be amazed if Benni has made it up, why would he want to? If found guilty Mijailovic needs more than a heavy fine, he also needs a lengthly ban.
