Massive Injury Blow for Rovers!

Blackburn Rovers have been hit with the crushing news that Steven Reid will be out for another four months due to his back injury.

The 25-year-old Republic of Ireland International has not featured for Rovers since the defeat to Chelsea at Ewood Park at the end of August, having picked up an injury whilst on International duty with Ireland a week later.

After a second scan it has been revealed that he has a stress fracture of the back so we can't expect to see him turning out again for Rovers again until at least February. Early fears that Reid could indeed miss this remainder of the 2006-2007 season may yet be a reality?

This will be a massive blow not only to the player himself and Mark Hughes but all connected to Rovers as Reid played such a prominent role in last seasons successful sixth placed finish in the Premiership. His quality and experience were thought to be vital again this term as Rovers look to push on from last season and mount a serious assault on the UEFA Cup.

it's not good news! reidy is one of our key midfielders, lucky for us Bentley and Savage seem to have a rich seam of form, but rediy will be missed,

its a blow for the player, he was playing very well before the injury. I just wish him all the best for the months ahead.

4 months !!! that will be bad , but with Savage and Bentley you will cope I am sure ... lets hope you do not get another injury !

It's such a shame for him - He's been out for pretty much two years before this, and has finally started to show the promise that he has - Only to lose the chance again. Poor bloke deserves a break.

If reid is gone than the beuty of football in Blackburn's performance is gone. Bentley and savage will have all the pressure on their back now.
Roversguy
That is unlucky, he is class.

This is undoubtedly a huge blow for both Rovers and Reid! Also these are the kind of injuries that have a detrimental affect on a player for a while. I just hope he is given the time to recover fully and return to give us a boost down the line.

I think he may well be out until next season basically, as if he is rushed back he'll be out for FAR longer, worst case scenario if at all! Better to give him the time needed to insure he is still a quality player down the line.
