Zurab's happy Anfield return

Zurab Khizinashvilli's visit to Anfield proved to be far more successful for the Blackburn Rovers defender this season than it was last October.

The Georgian International, sent off in a midweek International friendly was also dismissed against Liverpool at Anfield last season. The red card looked to be very harsh and left Rovers to play for almost an hour with ten men, eventually seeing them lose 1-0.

The match at Anfield on Saturday (almost a year on to the day from Zurab's red card from last season, which actually later, quite rightly got rescinded) proved far more successful for the Georgian as he put in a man of the match performance in Rovers' 1-1 draw. Khizinashvilli said:

"It was a nightmare last year to be sent off after half an hour.

"But that doesn't matter now, I've forgotten that now, this time it was much better, everybody played well, as a team we played well.

"Away against Liverpool it isn't easy, it is never easy against them, but I think we were a good side today. We are playing with confidence, everyone is strong we have many experience players and it is good for us.

"We came here for a minimum of one point, we would have liked three but it is a good result for us and it keeps us in the top ten."

This article was planned for posting on Saturday 14th October.

No former Liverpool footballer. Zurab played for several of teams in Georgia, Dundee and Rangers in Scotland, but only Rovers in England.

Zurab is a good player for the club and seems to give his all in every game, im glad he is getting a run of games to prove this.
