Benni: I love being here

Summer signing Benni McCarthy loves life with Blackburn Rovers so much that he says he intends to stay loyal to the club even if a big club comes in for him.

The South African forward who is enjoy a fine run of goalscoring form has been quick to point out how grateful he is to the club for persevering in their efforts to sign him and how much he is enjoying life at Ewood Park:

"I love being here. Everyone says it rains every day but its sunshine some days and its fine by me. Blackburn were persistent and it was always my dream to play in England.

"If I did well and a big club came in for me, it'd be up to Blackburn. But if they want me to stay, I'll stay.

"Blackburn's wish is my command. I want to stay loyal to them. They gave me a chance."

In a day and age when footballers can kiss one badge one week and another the next you do become a little sceptical on how genuine some players are but all the signs both verbally and physically by the way he is carrying himself with Rovers seem to suggest no matter how many goals he scores so long as the club are happy to reject offers he'll remain with them as long as he is wanted.

This article was planned for posting on Saturday 14th October.

Let's hope this proves to be the case. I'm not invitting offers, but should he carry on like he is then the club will recieve them. Let's just hope they reject them and he stays like he says he wants to.

This is great to hear a top professional like benni speaking highly of our club. Let's just hope he does have a long and successful career at ewood. I think he is at an age where it woould be unlikely to see any major clubs bid for him! Good for us!!!

I don't know, footballers play on longer now so if he delivers the big boys could still come knocking but signs are he is more than happy to repay the faith shown in him. He's idolised by the fans already, so I do feel as you say roversman that he'll have a long and successful Rovers career though

I said he would prove to be the buy of the summer in the prem league and I wthink you are already finding that to be true !! top guy allround with what he has said here as well !!

You are the man dazednconfuzed. Benni is such a nice guy, always seems happy and enjoys himself.

im so glad that McCarthy feels this way, it shows how far Blackburn have come as a club when a player who - a couple of years ago was courted by the big names in Europe - would want to stay @ the club. That will only go down well when trying to lure players to the club in the future.

yeah, I have been telling people to watch out for him too! and now people are coming back and starting to say I was right! he's a top lad! perhaps he is having a little dig at Lucas????
Ex Ewood Resident
Good to know that he is enjoying himself playing for your club. He has definitley played a big part to the start of your season.

Maybe you are right Ex Ewood Resident. If Benni could have been lured to Rovers with his European pedigree, WHEN he does well this will only open others' eyes to the World of Rovers.
