Rovers are on a roll after two victories in the space of four days, with manager Gary Bowyer delighted at the spirit shown from his young troops.
Rovers' squad has a very different look to it this season with the average of the first teams on display predominately under 24, but with wins over Bournemouth on Saturday and a 1-0 win against Watford last night the change in intent from last season's woeful performances is evident.
Last night Rovers came up against a Watford side who will be in and around the chasing pack this season and came away with a clean sheet and a merited victory, with a second half Jordan Rhodes' header the difference.
'That was a massive effort off the back of the performance we gave at the weekend against Bournemouth,' Bowyer told Radio Rovers.
'I have nothing but praise for the energy showed by the players tonight.
'Watford nearly got promoted last season and in my opinion will be there or thereabouts.
'Hopefully now it will give us the belief that we can compete against the so-called bigger teams.
'You can't single anyone out because it was a massive effort from everyone.'
Rovers were full value for the win, with Watford restricted to few chances on the night. Going forward the threat of Josh King was once again evident and Leon Best led the aerial bombardment when necessary as the side look rejuvenated after a spell of three games without a win prior to the weekend.
'I think the first half was a typical game after a weekend from both sides, not many chances.' Bowyer continued.
'We felt we might have had a penalty with Jordan Rhodes getting sandwiched in between two of theirs, then there was a offside decision where he was clean onside.
'We said to the boys to go and give us everything in the second half and they did. You cannot do anything but give them praise.'
Rovers are next in action on Sunday (not Saturday) against Wigan at the DW stadium as the boys look to make it three wins on the spin.
Don't bet against it, it appears the manager has got his squad bang up for this.
