Injury forces rules Nonda out

Shabani Nonda, Blackburn Rovers' Democratic Republic of Congo's International striker was due to line up for his country today but injury has unfortunately ruled him out.

With the DR Congo taking on Libya in the African nations latest African Cup of Nations Qualifier Nonda, his countries captain, had been hoping to win his first cap in almost a year.

Having missed the African Cup of Nations Finals in January due to injury, he would miss the Congolese's last qualifier with Namibia due to the move he had undertaken to Ewood Park.

He was hoping to play for the country he is proud to represent and lead this time round, however a knee injury picked up against Salzburg, which forced him to miss Rovers' last Premiership match with Wigan Athletic, has forced him out again.

He should, all being well be fit for next weekend's trip to Anfield to face Liverpool however when the Premiership resumes.

He's meant to be the captain, but hasn't really had the chance to captain Congo that often in recent times, missed out on so many caps over the years through injury. But I think this is only a minor injury, nothing to worry about.
