Emerton Top Defender...Again!

Vital Blackburn's most recent Poll asked you "Defender of the Month for September?" You voted Brett Emerton again!

Having won the poll for Defender of the Month, and indeed eventually overall Player of the Month for August Brett Emerton with 40% of the vote has been voted top defender for the second month running. With 36% compatriot Lucas Neill again finished runner up to Emerton with both advancing to the overall poll to determine Augusts Player of the Month at the end of the week.

A much improving Andre Ooijer picked up 14% to finish in third place, but not even two penalty saves and three clean sheets could earn goalkeeper Brad Friedel anymore than 8% of the votes. Zurab Khizinashvilli and Aaron Mokoena picked up the final 2% with 1% each.

So in summary
Brad Friedel - 8%
Brett Emerton - 40%
Andre Ooijer - 14%
Zurab Khizinashvilli - 1%
Lucas Neill - 36%
Aaron Mokoena - 1%

As the search for the Rovers player of the month for September continues the current poll (running for Monday and Tuesday) is asking, "Midfielder of the Month for September?"

Remember the two midfielders with the most votes advance to the overall poll, joining Emerton and Neill to determine who you felt deserved the title as Vital Blackburn Rovers Player of the Month for September.

As for what you think, cast your vote, and why not have your say on the latest polls findings...

Emerton should stay at rite back as he looks very good there and it will give Neill a kick up the arse, just to prove that should he move on we have decent enough cover. Emerton I thought personally was way to slow for the rite wing, but his passing and crossing were as good as anyone in the league. Now with him linking up with Bentley, who has the pace needed, its looking good on that side, the same with Neill and Pedersen on the left

It's looking good isn't it, a decent balance now be between midfield and attack. Gray will find it hard to get back in the team now with these partnerships, unless Neill leaves in January? Although Gray has been used in midfield in some recent reserve games, and having started out as a winger maybe he could move forward again?
